Tracking of dealer ordered car; have VIN number

Have a VIN number of car en-route to USA. Any way of finding the ship number and build date from VIN number? Is there any way of tracking since dealer is not yet set up to track cars. Their busy getting their new dealership set-up and operational! Thought would be neat to see car unloaded; am told there are web cams to do this! Car is part of dealer preinventory.

I am in the same position with a dealer pre-inventory car almost finished that will soon be shipping. I would love to know how to track it. Do you go to the dealer web page? Thanks!

with a VIN, log into the ol.miniusa site and see what the status is if it is enroute than enter the vin at the shipping website located in the "How to track your mini thread" on NAM. Once you have a ship name goto marinetraffic.com and enter the ship name. If it is near a port you will be able to track it.

Thanks! I put my vin # in at the owner's lounge but I had to guess at it cuz my dealer gave me an 18 number vin and it's asking for a 17 number vin...

They are closed today of course, lol.

Once you get your correct vin go to the 2wglobal site and input your VIN in the right hand side. Owners Lounge is always late in updating. Then marinetraffic and sailwx are the two sites to watch your baby come across the pond. Sailwx will only work if your ship participates with the site and then it will usually update its location about every 6 hours. If it doesn't participate then you can only use the marinetraffic site and then only if the ship is within range of various sites as represented on the sites maps. If you live on the west coast then there are a couple more sites of interest:

Good luck with tracking your new car!!!!
