Looks like the TURANDOT was to leave on 9 OCT and be in Port H on 30 Oct. I guess I missed it

Congrats Johnny...

Looks like it is official for us. Week 40 build, week 42 ship.....we've been officially assigned to the Tarifa . Like I said before, better than the January or February time frame we were given originally. We should still have it before Thanksgiving!!!

Eurokoke, how'd you do???

Turandot???

I have been unable to find a location for the Turandot on any of the shipping web sites that had been listed in the last few days. The one site was last updated 10-09-09 and shows it jut out in the open water off of England.
The other sites don’t even list it, or when you search for it nothing comes up. Any one have more info?

Ron - I believe 'marinetraffic' only works if the ship is in one of the squares you see when looking at the world view. I don't know why there hasn't been an update on 'sailwx'. If anyone finds it....

Sadly, no news for me. My Mini seems to have completely fallen off the radar. Completed on 10/3, and no updates since then. No record found on the WW site, no answers from ASK MINI. The Owner's Lounge still says "Scheduled for Production".
Talk about frustrating! I just wish I could get some kind of response from the powers that be!

Glad that most of you are finally getting booked. Just jealous!

mrchairboy - maybe you are booked with 'kline' instead of 'ww'. 'Ask Mini' can't help once it has finished production and booked with a shipper. And 'Owner's Lounge' is pretty much worthless as far as updating. Might try 'Kline'...

Alas, I'm (someday!) bound for the west coast, and from what I can garner K-Line only works the east and gulf coasts. Hoping to get some info from my MA at some point, but they don't seem to have any more info than Ask Mini. Keep telling myself they don't make money unless they deliver the car, but, of course, their timeframe isn't nearly as urgent as mine. Ah well...

Thanks for the suggestion anyway...

Let's just pray that your car was on the upper deck and that you opted for the undercoating protectant.

Undercoat protection...

Nope...that stuff is a dealer option.

If you read that article...I think they would apply the undercoat protectant and clearcoat etc. after the car goes through the Texas Shredder : "a 50-foot-tall, hulking blue-and-yellow machine that sits on a 2.5-acre concrete pad. Inside the machine, 26 hammers — weighing 1,000 pounds each — smash each car into fist-sized pieces in two seconds. The chunks are then spit out the back side."
See...that preps the vehicle for the protectant and the clear coat.<img>

I can't believe this...this morning we had been assigned to the Tarifa and now I see we are being put on the container ship, Don Carlos. It leaves a week earlier than Tarifa and arrives 2 days sooner at Port Hueneme. Lots of stops with the first being New York.

The Pilot it headed out to get the Manon and bring her in. Or so it would appear.

Arriving a bit earlier than expected. Nice.

For those of this thread that are still left and may be loading onto the Manon...it is officially starting up to Southhampton.

By the way, who all do we have left from week 40 that has not had their car shipped as of yet?

And has anyone heard where the Turandot is?

And everyone else has gotten awfully quiet since their cars have started heading west...

Pilot is aboard and the Manon is headed in.

It's almost like playing a video game on Marinetraffic.com

You're right Kalililly, The silence is deafening.

Johnny - I didn't see the Manon go through the first webcam so if you stay up late you might see it on the Southhampton web cam when it is getting ready to dock. I'm getting too old to stay up that late since I get up about 4:30 our time. It will be on the East coast in no time...

Here's something that might be handy. This links to a PDF that shows the scheduled W-W service for the Europe-North America route for the next month.

Don Carlos vs. Tarifa

For West Coasters...

The Don Carlos leaves on the 15th. The next ship to Port Hueneme is the Tarifa which doesn't sail until the 23rd.; however, the Tarifa bypasses the East Coast and goes directly to the Panama Canal and the West Coast. It arrives in Port Hueneme on Nov. 13 only two days after the Don Carlos.

I think I am technically a Week 41 since my car is to be finished on the 13th. It was being painted today. Final assembly is tomorrow. Apparently much of the 13 days of production involves assembling all the parts that go into one's car and getting them staged so they all come together at the right moment. (Just in time production?). Actual assembly (putting all the stuff in the already painted body) takes one day.

I would like the car to make the Don Carlos. If not, Tarifa sails on Oct. 23rd and arrives on Nov. 13th.

{This tracking stuff is actually pretty entertaining. How cool is it to have a car custom made and be able to follow its progress through the factory, across the ocean, and to the local dealership. I guess you also need to have good delay of gratification ability to enjoy it.}

Thanks Kal
I tracked the Manon from about 6pm CST till now. 30 min. and she'll be pulling along the dock. I'll watch the tugs assist and then I'm hitting the rack.

The Manon is coming along side the dock now with the kind assistance of the Tug Svitzermadeleine. Watching on Marinetraffic.com, and the Southampton VTS webcam. Live action. Better than reruns of CSI that's for sure.
