Hey, hey everybody! Picked up my Mini in Baton Rouge yesterday! The weather was horrible and she is already filthy, so I haven't taken a bunch of pics yet... I got one quick one yesterday that I'm posting. She's getting detailed this afternoon, so I'll post more pics later
I really wish I was off work today so I could just go motoring!!! All I want to do is drive

Jethro had landed! Here are a bunch of quick pics before I have to run off. I'll upload full-res versions to my gallery late tonight, and get some better shots in the next few days. My tires & wheels are on order, can't wait to finish the look next week. The car is FANTASTIC, the cosmetics turned out even better than I could have imagined.
CRAP.. can't upload anything because I've already uploaded in this thread (??!!). I've posted some pics here...

bilseg just stopped by with his MINI Cooper S. Great looking British Racing Green w/ white bonnet stripes and white roof and mirrors. We exchanged experiences regarding our purchases. I thought for sure Irvine MINI would have given him a key chain since I dropped the hint. Happy Motoring 45'ers.

I've put full-size pics in my gallery now. In about another week my wheels should arrive, then I'll shoot a fresh round.
So far I'm NOT impressed with the H/K sound system. I have toyed with the settings (only bass/treble.. not even a mid setting, and no DSP settings.. what's up with that??) and still can't get decent sound out of it. I do, however, like how the iPod interface works with the nav system - very fast, nice info display, not too painful to navigate (unlike the system in general, which is gonna take some time to get used to) and it seems to be charging my 16gb 5th gen Nano.

My incoming wheels are BBS LM's. Coma-inducing price ($780-per) but truly the dog's bollocks.

After we left Irvine we went to Newport Beach, had a nice lunch, drove down the coast to Dana Point and then had a decision... go north on 5 to Capistrano and take the twisty Ortega Hwy over to Lake Elsinore or, because it was getting late go south on 5 and get home before the commuter traffic clogged things up...
We decided to go south... Very bad karma... Shuda done the twisties...
As we were going through Camp Pendleton and were doin'... well, over the speed limit but keepin' up with traffic. We were in the left hand lane with a pick-up truck on our right and a mini van in front of us.
The mini van hit a piece of retread (about 6' long & 8" wide) at about 80 MPH and it flew up off their rear wheels and, like a wounded snake was coming straight at us.
I swerved but at speed with a guardrail on our left and a pick up on our right there wasn't much room. The good thing was, I was able to miss about 85% of it.
The bad part was the 15%. It hit low on the front right just outside the
fog light.
When I was able to pull off and check, nothing was cracked or broken BUT the tow hook cover was almost off and the plastic that it was in front of the fog light got pushed back hard and it "popped" a few seams. I was able to snap a lot of it back into place but the black front right fender and the plastic piece below it are still about 1/4 inch out of flush... something isn't hooked back together yet...

First JCW Clubman mod
Rear side windows and barn door windows tinted. This car looks great. I am counting down to 1200 miles too. This car has a lot under the hood.
BTW - the installer that put on the sport stripes recommended using quick spray detailer on the stripes after every wash - NO wax.
Very sorry to hear of bilseg's encounter. Bright side - it could have been a lot worse.
Hope all the 45'ers are enjoying their new rides.
My two boys ( 4 and 6 years old LOVE it). If anyone is looking for a "family sports car - this is it!

Jethro's new shoes have arrived! 17x7.5" BBS LM (or as they are unofficially known as, the "Let's Motor" edition). Michelin Pilot PE2's in 205/45/17. A MASSIVE improvement over the 16" runflats - superior ride quality (despite the shorter sidewall), better turn-in and handling, and perhaps most importantly, a far more comfortable ride, with no more crashing over tiny road imperfections. Next up: tint, clear bra & suspension. Koni FSDs and NM springs are my chosen path. More pics in my gallery, and more here:
