New MCS owner in NE Ohio

Hi everyone! I just bought a new (to me) Space Blue 2006 MCS. I actually pick the car up tomorrow if the weather holds.

I'm coming from the Subaru world where I've owned two mildly modified WRXs, a 2.5RS, a Legacy wagon and a Forester. Pretty much got in a rut, but they are great cars and they served me well. I do most of my own work and got comfortable with sourcing parts and tearing into things.

I am a native Clevelander who just moved back from Toledo a couple of years ago. BGSU alum, crusty old man, married with two little boys.

Here are a couple pics of my new ride. I need to find snow tires quickly! Any local connections?

Pictures of my last few cars (in reverse order) if anyone cares. The MINI is the 30th car that I have owned. My wife is a saint!

2002 WRX Sedan
TurboXS Stage II
Sold after my oldest son was born

2000 Impreza 2.5RS Coupe
Lots of mods, but unfortunately couldn't keep it long enough to swap it
Sold when my youngest son was born
This is the one that I miss the most

1984 VW Scirocco
Fully restored and pretty much mint
This car was a blast as a "toy", but was scary as a daily driver -- unfortunately 25 year old cars that barely weigh 2,000 lbs. are pretty frightening on crowded highways
Sold this when I came to my senses!

2002 WRX Wagon
COBB Stage II
Fun car, 300+ hp, but transmission issues finally broke me
Traded to a kid from PA for his Legacy Wagon plus cash

Summer mode:

Winter mode:

1995 Legacy L Wagon
Taken in trade for my WRX Wagon
This car was bulletproof. I planned on keeping it for a very short time, but this car was an absolute tank. I would still be driving it if I didn't have to deal with an I-480 commute every day.
Sold it with 272,000 miles on the clock and it is still going strong!

2001 Forester S w/ Premium Package
This was my most current car - just sold last week with 128,000 on it
I bought it on subaruforester.org and flew out to New Hampshire to pick it up (sight unseen)
I see real potential for regretting selling the car, but it seemed like the right thing to do (I guess)

Thanks for looking!

Paul

Sweet Scirocco. I had a 16v for 10 years that was featured european car back in '05. You're way off in your weight estimate - the 16v weighed over 2300 lbs, you're 8v wasn't too far below that.. way north of 1700. The Mk1 GTI's were slightly under 2,000 lbs in US-spec trim. Had one of those too back in the day. Fun car, horrendous durability/build quality.

Thanks! Trying to enjoy it before I get bitten by the mod bug. Need to keep it economical for now...

From what I've found, it's almost always cheaper to order tires from tirerack.com. I'm also in Ohio and I think it was only about $20 to get my 2 new rear tires shipped for my s2000 last summer. Even with the shipping fee I saved a ton of money. Congrats on the car and drive safe getting it home. We've got some snow on the ground here in Columbus and it's probably worse up there.

I've always had good luck with Tire Rack too, but I was hoping to get them locally for sake of timing.

Well we made it back. The drive down was a little dicey between Brunswick and Mansfield, but fortunately the drive back was uneventful. The only time the ASC light came on was in my driveway!
