First MINI/First BMW.
Hi! I just dumped $17.5K on an all-black '05 MCS, with--no kidding, no typo, no zeros missing--2000 miles on it. It is a 6-speed with chrono pack, heated seats, driving lights, and not much else. I absolutely love the car. As you can imagine, it it practically like brand new. BTW and FWIW, the original owner died soon after purchase, and the car was in storage for 4 years. (No, he did not die IN the car...that was the first thing I asked too, looking to get a break on the price!)

I purchased my 2007 MCS in Nov 2009 from a Toyota Dealer. The odometer read 10,800 miles on it. I was given all the original paper work and contacted the original buyer who was cordial. I asked why did you trade in your MINI for a Toyota, and she told me she just couldn't learn how to drive a standard transmission. Yeah I know what you're thinking, but my new MINI dealer inspected the car and replaced the clutch under warranty. I'm hoping I got a good deal. So far it's a really fun ride and 65% of the comprable cost of a 2010. Oh yeah, I've learned to wave at all the MINI's I see on the road.

Thanks for the warm welcome! I absolutely love the car. I know I paid full book value on it and that I'll remain upside down for a while as the miles begin to rack up, but I do believe I found a car that I'll be happy with for a pretty long stretch (assuming it doesn't eventually turn into a maintenance-nightmare), so the numbers don't matter too much to me. I basically got a brand new car at a comparatively decent price (glass half full). FWIW--of course, it's not--they advertised this car at $18.9K (!) which is the only reason I had a crack at it at all. I told them I love the car but I refuse to pay a penny over clean retail mileage-adjusted book value for it. I threw the number $17.5 at them and they bit. I figure I could have maybe done a little better, but this was one car I didn't want to risk losing out on for a few hundred bux, as I don't believe I would have bought an "average" used Cooper, with "average" mileage on it, at all...even at a better-than-"average" price.
The only thing that's been changed is the oil and filter. They inspected it (twice, at my insistence) and found all rubber parts in good condition, so nothing else was done to it.
I actually love the fact that it's black-on-black; I find it unique as I haven't seen many single-color MINIs out there. I even like the fact that the driving light caps are black. I immediately removed them, thinking I'd like the look better without them, but soon realized that I like them left on. Me-ification, as far as I can predict for now, will only consist of a few chrome parts--hood scoop and mirror caps and maybe cowl-vent rings. Aside from that, I definitely need a center armrest...with a useable cupholder, as I already removed the goofy and hideous-looking down tube-mounted add-on one...and the Blitzsafe/XMDirect satellite radio setup (b/c where I live, regular radio is just untolerable, and I'm not really into the whole I-pod thing). As far as going very much further with modding, I think I've got it out of my system with my previous car, which I just sold...Silverstone, 5-speed, B-pkg, '90 Mazda Miata...a car that (even more so than the MINI) has an aftermarket so large that the possibilities (and costs) are endless.
The poster above has a point, I could have cried false advertising...that the car should have been labeled "NO OWNER"!

Its funny you mention this. It was 27 deg.f yesterday afternoon, and sunny, and when I got into the car I noticed it was already quite warm inside! Summer's gonna be fun. At least I have the luxury of rolling the windows down with the remote, before I enter zee oven.
