e-? brake problem

As of my last post I've replaced my front wheel bearing and ball joints. Thanks for the heads up. Next I had the rear wheel bearings replaced by a reputable mechanic. Post fix the hand brake lever operates but the mechanism on the brake caliper will not release. The mechanic said he did not adjust the hand brake and is not responsible for the problem. I got the brakes to release manually by tapping the mechanism on the rotor with a small hammer. Is there some kind of fix or adjustment or did the mechanic damage the e brake mechanism when replacing the rear wheel bearings?

No adjustment... The fix for this is to replace the cables. They are worn and are starting to stick. I had this done to mine and now they function as they should.

Also, there is no need to tap anything. Likely it is the right side that is sticking and all you need to do is reach under there and turn the mechanism by hand to release it. Get both cables replaced and all will be good.
