Thanks! I'm quite happy with it too! Even some people at the dealership were commenting on how nice it was I am excited to have such a long wait finally over I think the white wheels might take a lot of work to keep clean, even after a couple of days they're already covered in brake dust

Now I get to figure out what to do for mods!

So..... Been busy motoring for the past few weeks. Now that anuppercasej has his MINI (very nice btw!) I think everyone that ordered in March has their car!

Congrats to all... I never thought that my little original post would end up with 23 pages of conversation. Looking forward to seeing what you all do with your MINI's over the next year or so. MAke sure to update this thread with changes, mods, events, etc.

Happy & Safe motoring everyone!

tojofi, First, thank you soooooo much for starting this thread. It was great to have somewhere to go where you were understood during that crazy wait!

And I am still having a blast with my MINI! Every time I take off with the top down or take a particularly cool twisty, it makes me smile! I've been on two PhillyMINI.org rallies. The first one was called the topless review (sp?) and the second was Ladies Day Out. Both fantastic!!!!!!

I often feel like a rock star: getting waves from other MINI's, being stopped by perfect strangers, and giving rides at family gatherings. Too too much fun!

And just the mundane driving to work and getting groceries is fun now!

No mods yet... not really my thing. Unless you count clings for the window and my new vanity plate: GOJOJO. Just hand washing and waxing are a big change for me!

How is everyone else doing?

It's been 2 weeks and it's been very exciting. This thread was great to have while waiting for my MINI. Thank you for starting it tojofi, it was fantastic to have everybody here to talk to and very helpful and supportive.

I always look forward to doing anything involving driving, sometimes I wish I had more places to go. There doesn't seem to be a lot of MINIs in the area where I live so I don't see too many other ones. We have a motoring club out this way that I've joined but haven't gone to any events yet. We are still getting settled in after the move, but once we are I'll have a lot more time to motor.

I'd like to do some mods. I'll probably start with some cosmetic since I don't want to screw with the warranty. I got some free accessories from my dealer so I have a blackjack sunroof decal and a grille badge holder on the way and I can't wait to get them installed.

Hope everyone else is happily motoring!

Hi All,
This is my first post and a will be a bit of a rant. I purchased the (Week 13 production) Mini (Mayfair special edition in Hot Chocolate) back on April 17th. I asked for a May 30 delivery as I knew the car wasn’t going to be there for another few weeks and then I was going to be on vacation. So I figured the car would be safe with the dealer until I returned. This would also delay payments. :P

I get back from vacation on the 29th and all excited about the new car as I had set a 2PM delivery. I get a call around 10AM from the manager of the dealer, knowing this can’t be good. He tells me they’re having problems with the detailing department and they would like to deliver the car the next day. I told him I took time off work and insisted delivery that day. After a few exchanges I get bumped from 2PM to 5PM and then to 7PM. At this point I’m pretty peeved and expecting spectacular results for waiting all day.

Mistake number 1: I sign the documents with the “Delivery Specialist” since they’re “finishing up with the car”.

After signing, the “Delivery Specialist” goes to see what’s taking my car. I overhear him talking with the dealership manager and I overhear the detailing guy saying they needed to give the car a quick wash.

Upon finally getting to see the car, I walk over and see spots on the car, much like remnants of bird droppings after an incomplete cleaning. The “Delivery Specialist” then runs to get a micro-cloth to wipe it down. I touch the surface with my finger and the surface is gritty. I then yell at him not to touch the car with the cloth, knowing it’ll create scratches.

I get a quick tour of the car, at which point I’m explaining things to HIM about the car. So glad that I’m being taken care of by a “Specialist”

They commit to a “Full detailing” on another day, since it’s now 8:45PM and they close at 8.

One week later, I call them since they’re non-committal about the date of detailing and get an appointment for the next day (Tuesday). After dropping the car off at 7:30 and driving away with a loaner, I get a call at about 10AM. My service manager is telling me they would like to keep the car overnight since it’ll need more work.

Fast forward to Friday (two days ago now) and the car is back from a “BMW/Mini Authorized” body shop and the Manager of the Service department calls me saying they have wet-sanded the car and he is not pleased with the results, saying it’s “95%” acceptable. They would like to send the car for more wet-sanding and another coat of clearcoat. This will now take another week.

Now my question to anyone and the end of my rant: Has anyone EVER encountered anything close to this experience on a “new” car?

Just a little update. It's been a little over a month now.

-I destroy hills, thanks to the hill-assist. I am completely comfortable driving manual now.
-About 1,500 miles.
-Installed mods: DoS Intake, Fes AutoSport, Speaker channel swap, JCW Grill, JCW Grill Trim, 35% tint, Autometer Boost Gauge, Scangauge II, NM Titanium Heatshield, stubby antenna
-2 dings on passenger door. I think my neighbor rested his car door on mine. The dings are horizontally aligned with a few inches between. It looks like on two occasions he did that. I now park as far back as I can so his front door opens infront of my car.
-Hood scoop is faded and is a lighter midnight black, almost dark purple. Waiting on MINI regional manager to inspect.
-New wheels on order

I've noticed this on mine as well. Can you please keep me posted on what the regional manager says about it?

Will definitely keep you posted!

SA and Foreman at MINI both agreed it's not normal. However, they need approval by the regional manager. I guess it's to see if it falls under warranty. He should be on Oahu first half of July.
