Finally joining the club
Hi everyone-
My name is Lauren (Silverbeam on bimmerforums) I almost bought a MINI Cooper S back in 2003. But the deal changed after I had an evening with the car and i walked away. I've been looking back ever since and I think it is time I finally satisfy my MINI lust.
I'm looking for a first gen MINI, definitely under 13K but preferably closer to 10K. The car I almost bought when I was 17 was an Inka Blue with sports package. Now I prefer Electric Blue, but because of my price range, I'm not going to be super picky about colors/options/etc.
As I start my search on these forums, is there a thread that goes over what to look for when buying and details the packages? I can't remember much about the options any more. Also, as I remember the 2002s have steering rack issues. Is that correct? Is there a year to avoid?
Also, because of my price range most of the cars I'm finding have around 100,000 miles on them. Have these cars been around enough to create a bench mark for how many miles they can go for? I'd want at least 150,000 out of it, it would be amazing if I could drive it to 200,000. I drive about 15K a year, so longevity is important to me.
Thanks, I look forward to finally joining the club.
