I went to the mini cooper website and i can buy the luggage rack but I am not sure if that could hold two 10ft/39lbs kayaks. If the luggage rack wont work are there any other posibilities?

i would think it could hold the 80lbs. people put that big carrier box up there that they sell and its got to equal around that.

EDIT: found a good thread.. should hold though they are talking about a 1st gen MINI...not sure if you are too?

towing a small trailer is another option - that's what I do with my windsurfing boards. There is minidomore.com that offers all you need for that (I'm on the 2nd generation of their hitch already).

I carry 2, 55 LB. kayaks with a Yakima Trailer and a MiniDoMore hitch. Works great!

Off the top of my head, I seem to recall that the MINI can handle up to 75kg on the roof. That's roughly 160 pounds: more than enough to handle two kayaks. (Even two tupperware plastic boats!)

I plan on carrying two composite boats on a regular basis on my 2010 Clubman. (Reminds me: I need to get down to the dealer and order that OEM rack.)

The biggest problem with a sea kayak and a Mini is where to tiwe the bow and stern. One kayak off center over the tow hooks works but where do you put the second one? Plus a triangular tie is better than a single point tie, no wiggle that way.
