Buying an 07 MCS...tomorrow!

Hi Everyone!

After much deliberation, I'm finally pulling the trigger and taking delivery of a dark silver 2007 Cooper S tomorrow! I'm pretty nervous over here as its definitely a BIG step down in size and this will be my daily driver, but I just can't resist how fun it is to drive.

A bit about the vehicle: 35k miles, Dark Silver over carbon black Lounge Leather, premium, sport, cold weather, convenience, navigation...loaded. I originally wanted Mini certified, but the dealer is including an extended warranty for five years from today until 100k (comprehensive). I really, really hope I'm getting a good deal at $19k. Inventory is low in the area so its hard to find comps...

Anyway, I look forward to roaming around the forums and learning more!

Let me be the first to say you won't regret the step down in size. My former car was much larger also (well, all cars are larger than a MINI really) and I've never regretted having a smaller and way more fun to drive car. I actually found most of the stuff I was hauling around was junk I never used anyway.

I looked for a used MINI for a while and in the Milwaukee area at least there were not many available so I ended up going new. With the weather finally warming up around here you should be able to enjoy the new ride!

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone!

Its only been a couple of hours, but so far I'm loving it! Favorite features so far - integrated bluetooth (even downloaded my phonebook!), rain sensing wipers, and the ambient lighting...so cool!

However, the car actually stalled when I was leaving work this evening. And its an automatic. I simply started it, put it in reverse, it was lurching back (not smoothly) and the engine just shut off. Acceleration was a bit rough after I got it started again, followed by the check engine light coming on with a message about the 'emissions.' It was 70 degrees outside, so definitely not a 'cold start.' I'm very concerned, seeing as I purchased this from a very reputable, large dealer. Luckily it has remaining factory warranty coverage so I shall take it in tomorrow and see whats up. Any ideas on what could be causing the stall and the rough acceleration and deceleration? I guess I'm just a bit disappointed in having an issue like this so quickly on such a clean and relatively new vehicle, and frustrated that it went unnoticed by the dealer. Anyway, I still love the car so we'll see where this goes.

Congrats on the new mini! Hopefully nothing wrong with it. I'm sure the dealer will take care of the problem.

Welcome to NAM. Sorry about the trouble, it sounds like it could be the high pressure fuel pump problem.
