I have a red with black top and stripes 2005 Mini S with the John Cooper Works add ons and the aero kit. It's a great car to drive when I have the chance. It definitely has its quirks and my service experience has been mixed. The aero kit was installed improperly, the sensors act up alot and the windshield wipers don't do that great a job. Once I found the right service person at the dealer, he's definitely taken care of me and he knows my car without having to look at the service records. The extended warranty was a wise decision (included brake job) although I'm not so sure about the extended maintenance plan.
My biggest issue has been some reduced MPGs that the dealer can't explain. It's happened a couple of times. In both cases the MPG went from about the usual 26 to 18. The first time they replaced something in the fuel injector. The second time the muffler was replaced. I'm still seeing some variations that are significant enough beyond the usual seasonal changes. The car has about 60K miles and I'm religious about servicing it. Any ideas ?
