Sir Winston is currently on board the Medea (from the WW shipping line). Medea left Southampton yesterday and is scheduled to arrive in Port Hueneme, California on June 16. I'm wondering who his cruise buddies are...does anyone else out there have a baby on the Medea?
Sir Winston - and 428 of his MINI buddies on board the Medea - are currently anchored outside of Panama...looks like they'll go through the locks tomorrow.
Zoedragon/hsautocrosser/anyone else on board: here's a link to the Panama webcams: http://www.pancanal.com/eng/photo/camera-java.html
Sweeet! Thanks for the update SirWinston! I was actually wondering where in the ocean it was now. Sailwx.info hasn't updated their position since they left the English Channel.
I think vesseltracker.com (which is what I've been checking obsessively haha) is a little more up to date/accurate than sailwx...Regardless of what tracking site you use though, it appears that there is a rather large dead zone in the North Atlantic where the AIS system doesn't show any info for the vehicle carriers, at least not on public websites, because Medea hasn't been showing up on any sites that I've seen from about the 27th until today.
As it happens, Medea didn't go through the Miraflores locks in Panama today. There is apparently a backlog in the canal so she has been rescheduled for tomorrow; I believe at 11:00 a.m Panama time/9:00 a.m. Pacific time.
Woohoo too many pina coladas on the Lido deck haha...
I saw Medea go through the Gatun locks this morning around 6:45 a.m.; she just went past the Centennial Bridge webcam a few minutes ago. So the Miraflores locks are next; I don't know how long it takes to get there from the bridge but I'm guessing at least an hour.
Hey guys, just spotted Medea about 75 miles southwest of Ensenada...(marinetraffic.com and vesseltracker.com) hopefully they'll pick up some fish tacos on the way lol. The WW office in Port Hueneme said she'll be in around 7 am tomorrow...I'm planning to go to the port to watch her come in so I'll post some pics when I get back.
I wonder if he got picked up for loitering?
Hey mine was discharged the same time yours was! Off to the VDC! I wonder if my MINI picked up some things from Panama that need to be declared at customs, hehe. Some maracas or colorful blankets would be nice.
Thanks for the link! I actually read that thread long ago, very interesting stuff! I hope mine doesn't need any crush damage repaired! I like to think my MINI had more sense than to party too hard and knock itself out falling against a bulkhead.
