Just bought a 2004 MCS
Hello everyone,
Last Thursday i bought a 2004 MCS! I traded in a boring car for something I could get back into autocross with. I used to race a 91 240 SX but due to life and family reasons had to give it up. Now after a long wait I can get back to autocrossing.
I bought it from a local Smart dealer and took it to the Mini dealer to have it checked out. Its only real issue was brakes so I just put a full set of cool carbon pads on last night along with a K&N drop in filter.
I know I've got some bushings that need replacing and a couple minor leaks, but the car is 6 years old so i expect some of that. I did notice while under the car last night that the driverside muffler band is not connected to anything which explains my rear end noise!
Anyhoo, I'm looking forward to learning more about this car that I just love driving and getting good advice from the experts out there on the right steps to take to get it performing on the track.

Congrats! I have the same year and love it. The first mod that will make a huge difference in handling is a larger rear sway bar. I love mine, it got rid of 100% of the understeer.
You're going to love this forum! This is the best place for any info you need.
Now you need to post some pics of your new baby!
Motor on,
Chad

You may already have some mods. Look at your supercharger pulley. See if there is a stamp on it and if not take a pic and post it. This is the most common first upgrade. Intake airbox would be the second. Do you know any history about your car? Who owned it? Mine was completly stock but that is rare. The previous owner was an old lady. If you look at my signature, I have done all of those mods since Jan 2010. Yes, I've got the bug. Lol

Thanx for all the welcome wishes. I just love this car so far.
Until I post pictures, it's black with white stripes, white roof, wheels, and mirrors. Looks great from a distance, nothing major wrong at all cosmetically. It's got just a few minor things to fix that it seems most others have experienced: control arm bushings, oil pan gasket, power steering fan... I posted a thread in the coupe talk forum for the 1st gen in case anyone wants to answer some easy questions![Smilie](https://www.northamericanmotoring.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
Looking forward to getting some of the small stuff taken care of so I can enjoy this car even more!
