Hellooooooo!

Just a friendly introduction!

Cars previously owned were a 2003 Honda Civic Si and a 2000 Honda S2000. Thought I'd try a different route for once, something other than Japanese haha

I bought a 2003 MCS a few months ago and hoping to become an active member here! I just picked up a Thule roof rack, and now I'm in the market for some coilovers.

I'm definitely a newbie, so thanks in advance for all the dumb questions I'll be asking. Looking forward to meeting everyone!

Yes, I agree. Those are sharp looking Hondas but we're dying to see the MINI.

Wow thanks for all the warm welcomes and the positive feedback on my old Hondas haha! I'll take some pictures of the MINI as soon as I fly back into town

QUESTION:

Yes, I've used the search button, but I couldn't find an answer. Suspension kits for first gen and second gen MINIs are the same, correct?

They are different. There is also some variation among suspensions for the first gen cars. But that is pre 3/2003 I think. Most vendors you'd buy from would have a drop down menu that you'd see which your car falls under.

Thanks, nabeshin, for the info! The reason I was asking was in case I found something used in the forum marketplace. I was just curious if I could browse for coilover kits in the second gen section of the marketplace. Thanks again for the info

You can browse there but the parts you find, suspensionwise, won't do you and your '03 much good. Lucky for you, though, if you are interested in modding your new MINI there are a lot more options available for your Gen1. I wish I could find some of the values I've seen for Gen1s for my Gen2.

Good to know! Thanks, jtbrown. I'll be staying out of the gen2 section then

So, I'm thinking of the VMAXX coilovers. All I'm looking for is something that will get me low and won't break after 10k miles haha Tracking and Auto-X are not in my near future (lost my Honda s2000 due to "spirited" driving in the mountains and I'm too afraid now).

I searched the forum and found enough information to decide that I'll probably go with the VMAXX setup, for daily driving. But just curious if anyone had any other input to throw in while I save up some cash. Thanks in advance

A lot of folks recommend upgrading your rear sway bar as one of your early suspension mods... several to choose from.
