Got My Mini Lastnight!!!!!!!!

While black webs do look great, the second most effective mod on a 1st gen mini is losing stock wheels and getting light ones. Stock wheels all range about 23-26lbs, and for 17" wheels, they might as well be made from lead.
For comparison, those Feathers are only about 16 and a half lbs. That kind of unsprung weight loss is equal to about 200-400 lbs depending on the "formula" you use.

OK losing the weight makes since. It would help the car pull around my fat A$$.
Not sure about losing the run flats. What do you guys do about a spare when taking same a 1200 mile trip.

I think it's because the MINI can be personalized in so many different ways, people want to make it THEIR individual ride. And then, of course, it's always nice to max out performance and handling!

As long as your tires are in good shape it is VERY rare to get a "blowout". I carry the MINI Mobility system which is basically a air pump with a can o' fix a flat goo.....and cross my fingers I dont have to use it

We just completed our second 1,500 mile road trip of the summer on the "hated" runflats. No spare. No Green Slime. No mobility kit. No triple A.
Personally I like them, and just mounted fresh ones. (But, then I have been called different for a variety of reasons.) I kept them on my old '02 MCS and motored a bunch of 1,500+ mile road trips. I will keep them on my '06 as well.
I rotate them every 4k miles and monitor the pressure weekly.
The only reason I replaced my R84s (X-Lites, lightest OEM wheel) was I smacked a large water filled chuck hole and bent one. If not for that I would still have them mounted, I really like the R84s.
You do what you want to do based on your own requirements. Not what someone else says regardless of how passionate they come across. Including me.
BTW, you might find this site of interest as well.
