DSM Blew Up Bought a MINI!

Well as the title says my 1997 Eclipse GS-T spun a rod bearing in the super powerful 4G63-T.

Then I bought a MINI Cooper S. Mellow Yellow with Black Bonnet Stripes

2002 with 54xxx miles and in overall good condition.

I am 22 so the price wasn't horrible and I love driving this thing. It is a blast.

Proud to be a new member to the MINI movement!

Welcome to NAM. 2002 with only 54k is a nice find. See if you can blow this one up.

Welcome hughes! I came from your same world, I used to have a heavily modded 2.4L GSX. But like most DSM's, the motor decided to puke out the 1 and 4 pistons out the oilpan . Got the Mini and never looked back!

Just so yah know, you actually have a Liquid Yellow MINI. Mellow Yellow is an 06 to early 10 color, more mustard in color.

hi man, I'm new here too and welcome! The only problem with this site, as I've been lurking for months, is that it drives your desire to mod even more :S. Better start savin' lol.

Ciao

Well coming from the DSM world I love 2 things....
Lots of boost and lots of heads turning. I know eventually I will start dropping the DSM normality of 500 bucks a month on this thing. Just trying to learn how to drive it right now. I am in Columbus, OH.

I have noticed a small issue though, when you're doing 40 or so and you come to a hard stop, heavy braking, have you noticed the idle kind of bog down a bit for a couple of seconds.

Yep it does that, you can also make a temporary eratic idle for a few seconds by lightly taping the gas.

So can I remedy this issue with some new plugs, wires and fuel components or does it always do that?

I'm pretty sure it is in the ECU or drive by wire system.
