New guy from MD

New guy from MD, purchased a Chili "justa" yesterday and LOVE it!! Traded in a Rubicon Jeep, used to AutoX years ago and remembered how much fun the Mini guys had so I figured I could get something more economical and fun!

Jeeps wave to each other so I transitioned that to my Mini… I waved to 5 Mini's yesterday, 1 waved back, and 1 saw me and beeped just as we passed.

Pic at the dealer…

Went for a nice drive on some twisties… man this car is fun to drive!

Last night ordered some Sparco Drift 17's (w/215's) and started my trim black out project. Here is how it sits now, (going to work on the belt line tomorrow)…

Went with the "justa" as my ZX14 fills my speed fix… My Mini gets better MPG's than my bike, LOL. I'm at 200 miles and my average is 41… better than 15 in the Jeep

Oh, yeah and here is a pic of me AutoX'n…

I found a local club and Meetup group already that I have to check out. Anyway, I just wanted to share a little and say hi. I'm diggin this forum, thanks for all the pics, ideas and advice that I have read thus far.

Thanks!

Get a 19mm rear sway bar! I use an H&R bar .... no squeaks! Used the DIY instructions here on NAM for the install. Easy and one of my best mods.

Also get some front strut tower reinforcement! I use M7 blocks to prevent mushrooming. You may want the Ireland Engineering adjustable stuff since you autoX.

Hey Slolane, welcome to the forum and congrats on the MINI. I that a Lotus or a Caterham in the pics. I owned and raced a Seven America and a
Super Seven back in the 60's. Good days long gone now, nobody had fat tires back then, best you could do was Dunlop GreenSpots or Goodyear Bluestreaks. What a difference my Falken Azenis would have made, probably 10 to 15 seconds a lap on a 2 mile course. My MINI would easily outrun my 7A and probably hang with the Super Seven. Better suspension, brakes and tires will do it everytime.

Hi BensMini, thanks!! It's a Lotus in the pics, wasn't mine but a good friends. We registered it twice per race, I drove one slot and he drove the other. He got the car new and right away tore it apart, had a built Cosworth in it and was just over 1000 lbs by the time he shaved everything and replaced with CF... very sick car, he had about 100k in it, crazy but fun. We ran it in DM class and nothing came close to it. Those days are behind me too but good memories for sure. I agree... tires, brakes and suspension is where it's at! I can't believe how fun these MINI's are to drive!
