Dash down tube
Hi, I'm new to your forum. Got my MCS 5 months ago and love it, except for dash down tube, very uncomfortable.
I was reading an old thread from 2007 about altering the down tube. Did anyone ever follow thru on producing these altered
down tube for the masses?

You will have to read through the threads here, I did see 1 guy who actually shaved his down, and made a cutout so his leg could rest against it. There are a few places to purchased carbon fiber ones, and I have seen leather installed, and a few painted.
Good luck to you and welcome to the site

A lot of manual labor, but I think he was happy with it.

Yeah, I remember that thread, too. It was like 4 years ago, though. He had a how-to posted somewhere, about how he cut out a concave shape into the side for his knee to rest in, but he then had to bondo it closed. Then much sanding, then repainting.

I love the downtube. My leg rests on it perfectly, and helps keep my foot positioned properly. There is even a spot on the downtube that has had it's texture worn smooth from my pants over the years.
A similar product to what was described.
Not really a knee pad for the tall, but more of a shin pad.

Thank you for all of your responses.
I have tried the pad, but my over sized body wants more room and the pad limits it even more.
I guess I'll be learning how to use fiberglass and bondo, or lose some weight, don't think that's going to happen.
Let you know how it comes out.
Thanks again.
