After my MA told me the VDC was slammed and it would be a week before my car would show up it was cool. Than I heard the big snow storm had the grapevine shut down coming out of LA so I was in the car headed for the airport to fly to Miami till Friday. MA calls on his day off to say he stopped by the office and my JCW was there. I bet it came in on Monday as MINI oL said. I think he is off Monday and Tuesdays. I told him I was headed to the Irport and would be back Friday and hung up. Well I want to clear bra the car before I get it dirty so I changed plans. I moved my flight back 24 hours and my meetings. Call to tell them I woudl get it today and the MA said they were busy and it woudl have to be tomorrow. I said I would swing buy and see the car. He didn't like the sound of that said he would not know where it would be as lots of things need to be down to the car. I stopped by the shop might do my Clear Bra and they had a new Porsche Panamerica there to get it done. The paint on the porsche was a mess. The dealer had wet sanded on the car in different areas and the paint was rough and no gloss. He said told me don't let them detail the car. I do it all before I do the bra and all they can do is screw it up. You are paying me for it anyway because I would clear over bad paint. You need to fix it first. They specialize in exotics so they know there business. off to the dealer.
I track my car down and it is all ready except it need to me detailed and that
will take a while. Deliver tomorrow. Also my MA is off and he needs to be there to deliver the car. I want the car to take to the detailers so when I get back on Friday I can pick it up on the way home and it is complete and ready to go. I tell them skip the detail because my guy is going to do it anyway. He scotchgards the carpet, treats all the interior leather and surfaces, plus the exterior which will include a clay bar. Manger calls the MA to come in for a quick delivery as I have a 2010 so I can drive off. I start the paper work. Bummed I missed the .9 by one day and the car was most likely at the dealership on the 3rd! It is not a lot of money in the long run but it did cost me money. Residual dropped from 39% to 38% with the new year for Lease or Mini Select. I choose straight 5 year purchase at 2.9%. When I made the deal the MA said he woudl throw in Mats on delivery and of course he stiffed me. I took my old ones out of my trade and they are the ones I would have gotten anyway. I think he was mad he had to come in but thats his job. I told the dealer someone else could deliver as they are jsut ahnding me the keys but they can't do that. he was worried about his Survey because the car was not detailed. i said that will not be an issue. If I where him I would be worried about the car sat and I missed .9 and then you screwed me on the mats. It si jsut the pincple and it doesn't really matter but somethings never change. Does he thinkI will not remember it next time? It was liek I was bugging him to track my car fromt he VDC. I did the rest of it myself!
In the old days I woudl have ground them for another $500 or $1000 so Ilet them off easy. Then he sticks me with no new mats on a 35K car. His survey is might get hammered and i am going to let him know today whenI pick up a few things off my old car.
Now the good news. The cars is much better than expected. I will do a full report in another post. Compared to my 2010 S- Torq steer is drastically reduced, Less road noise in the car, Better ride than my S- way better-big surprise-suspension is stiffer but rides better and thump over big bumps like my S. Clutch is way better and transmission much smoother. HK Sound over my old standard night and day. Mini Connected Rocks-Love the look and works great with my Andriod-even voice commands like call Home. People can hear me better too but does sound distant like a speaker phone which is ok
as it was clear. Heats seats rock-setting 3 HI is good for 3 minutes and you are cooked and looking for 1. Xenon lights and fantastic. As good as I had in my 350SLK. Standard light sucked in my 2010. I live out in the sticks and at light the Xenons are almost as good as illegal KC day lighters from my truck.
Brights light up everything including the sides of the road. I see them leveling up and down but could not reallly see them turning R or L. Maybe just slightly. Brakes- you feel the big brakes on the car. It stops as good as anything on the road. Does feel like it has more power but not pounding it as it need break in time.
Disappointments-For some reason I thought it would have cross drilled rotors
standard. I see thay are not and are an option from dealer-weak. In Sport Mode standing behing the car i can hear it pop and burble. In the car I am hearing nothing. Tried the window down while wife was driving and it was quite. Hope it breaks in a bit and gets a bit louder later or it is going to need a louder exaust.

I'm sorry to hear about your poor pick-up experience. If I were you, I would be adament about the floor mats. It's not about the $, but the priniciple. He might have been upset about coming in on his day off, but will he be upset when he gets his commission check?? I suggest contacting him again, and let him know what the difference between a poor and good survey lies on a $100 floor mat. I bet that would change his mind.
I was promised floor mats as well, so I'm expecting that when I take delivery.

well i guess my clubbie was on the Rockies Highway as well. It's chillin at the VDC. my MA is somewhat useless however. the only way she helped me track was to tell me about ol, which at that point i had already been using for a couple of weeks. kinda bummed about missing 0.9% and not having any of the options that are eligible for the discounts. but all will be well soon

Im back in the game. I had an 05 hyper blue MCS and returned it after the lease was up in 2008. Well my current lease on my Nissan Altima Cpe. is up in March, so i just placed an order for a 2011 MCS. Lazer blue / black roof
premium, sport and cold weather, carbon black punch leather, rear fog, anthracite headliner, chrome interior, comfort access, bluetooth/ipod adapter.
The only thing is i was undecided on the black headlight housing and black conical spokes. I ordered them at first, but later cancelled and opted for the silver alloy and silver headlight housings. I don't know but while i like the way they look on other cars, for my own i just couldn't get myself to order it that way. Waiting for a production number from my MA.

That is a drag. My MA vastly underestimated how long it would take to get the car ready to go, and in fact I left without the nav system activated; it took him another two days to give me the code to turn it on. To his credit, though, he was back there at 7pm frantically helping the crew detail the car, so I'll give him an E for effort.
I'm going to have to start a new thread about MINI Connected and the nav system. It's going to take a while to figure out how to use everything.

the time is near!
Well my clubbie arrived at the dealer yesterday . But the dealer didn't have the black double spoke wheels available for me to swap with. So I have to upgrade to 17" black bullets, meaning I have to wait for new 17" Yoko Envigors to get there to swap out the tires. So hopefully I'll be able to pick it up next week. XD

So… ask yourself what can happen when your MINI is being transported from the Brunswick VDC to in my case my dealer in South Carolina?
I got a call yesterday afternoon to swing by the dealer from the GM, at first I thought oh yeah, my Clubbie is here. But, I could tell by the tone of his voice something was wrong.
As I sat down on my GM's office he said… well there's been an accident. The transport trailer, blew a rod which made the engine exploded causing the driver to lose control and your MINI appears to be damaged. He was actually more devastated than me. Its going to be delivered to the dealer tomorrow and we'll see what's happened.
I spent all last night pondering what am I going to do… cause I don't think I could go through the entire ordering process all over again.
As I was having breakfast with my parents this morning my cell rang, it was my GM asking if I could come by around 3PM. He said they were going to wash it down and clean off the debris and see how see looks.
When I arrived at the dealer the GM meet me with a smile and said I think we dodged a big one… my Clubbie was on the bottom of the trailer and was covered in dirt, mud, grass, etc due to the trailer going off-roading.
And here he is… after a wash three pinhead chips is all the damage. I really appreciate the fact that they let me see the car as is before any detailing took place. More photos to come after they finish installing the dealer add-ons.
