english Teacher/MINI Salesman

Hi, everyone! i just retired from teaching high school English after 31 years to sell MINIs. I'm buying one next week-They really are gloriously fun to drive!
I hope to learn about MINIs, and perhaps even answer a few questions...

Congratulations on your retirement, and on the new purchase! And best of luck with the new career!

I have a question for you already, and it's been bugging me for years.
Why is that young people these days don't understand how to use "your" and "you're" and "there" and "their" correctly?
And here's another one: why is it that even professional broadcasters these days can't seem to grasp the correct uses for "less" and "fewer"?? That one really gets me.

Thanks!

You/Your

It's funny you asked that..Saturday morning, at our sales meeting, "your Approved" was written on a poster by our finance director...i wondered if she was testing us...Nope, just using bad grammar.....So I do see a lot of that.....but what can you do?
My new MINI is in transit..a Chili Red hardtop...no extras....i'm very excited about getting one....I can't believe how much fun they are to drive...

Congrats, congrats, and good luck to you! I'm glad to read that I'm not the only person that gets irked by today's acceptable slaughter of the language. My favorite/funny one is when I hear people say, "He (or she) is one years old"...but when someone ends a sentence with "at" ie "Where's that at?" my 2nd grade teacher's voice rings in my 44 year old ears "between the A and the T".

minisalesman,

Two questions:

1.) When you bought your mini did you get a discount?
2.) Are you working on a salary or on commission?

Welcome to our madness, minisalesman! Lots of info around here - after strolling around for awhile, I feel like I know a little more than my MINI tech when I head back to my dealer.
