Howdy from an old NAMer

So, I left the miniac brethren about seven months ago. Traded in for a used Lexus. Mini was having problems, has 88k miles and I wasn't trusting it to hold up without costing me an arm and leg.

My new boyfriend was teasing me for my still evident obsession with my MINI so I told him you have to drive one to get it. So we did. A lovely little chili red S with white roof/bonnet stripes. My dream mini. 07, 38k miles, and they had her for just 17,995. Went there with no intention of even thinking of buying her. Walked out with the keys. This was yesterday. Today Molly and I are cruising along in a tow truck, as she didn't even make it home. :( she broke down on me on the highway. Not sure what the problem is. She'll turn over but there is a horrible sound, and she isn't moving. So, not even twenty four hours in and I'm on my way to the shop. Plus the dealer I am taking her to won't give me a loaner because I didn't buy at their dealership. And I got a ticket on my way back last night. (I went back home to visit this weekend which is where I bought her.)

It's all good though. I'm still very happy to be a miniac again. Just wish I'd have had the chance to show her off before she ended up on a tow truck.

that's a ridiculous story. What I mean is, it's disappointing and fristrating and also awesome and in the future, when you are racing around in that new MINI you'll be able to tell the haunting tale of it's first day with you, and laugh about it later.
Congratulations on your new MINI, from another driver who just came back!
Good luck on getting it taken care of! Now to change that signature graphic!

Yep. I can't remeber who made it for me, but I most definitely need a new one.

That is the scariest Halloween story I've heard. Good luck!

Whew, it got even better. I knew something was really bad when the service guy starts it and the second he hears the noise shuts it down because it sounds so bad. The service manager calls me over. Says they are pretty sure it's the clutch. The bad news is: the clutch is not covered under the warranty. It's going to run $2500. I immediately burst into tears. I question how it could not be covered and he shows me the information on the warranty. He says it's a maintenance thing, but then finally tells me, after those excruciating few minutes, that they cover all cars they sell for the first thirty days for anything like that, so the one I bought it from may do the same.

He tells me I should call them, and that he can talk to them for me. I pull out my motoring advisor's card and just ask him to call them. Apparently he didn't realize I actually bought it from a MINI dealership. He called, and they will cover, and he also got me a loaner. Yay!

Don't know when I'll get Molly back, but hopefully by this weekend.
