Yet another former Miata owner
Gone over to the dark side. After 15 years of Miata ownership (3 cars, much of the time with 2 in the stable) I traded my last existing Miata, a Competition Yellow '09 GT tonight for my brand spankin' '11 JCW PW/R. As you can see by my join date, I've been closet-motoring for a while now. I finally decided to take the plunge and jumped in head first.
Everybody say howdy to Daphne, the hot redhead.
It's nasty, cold and rainy here tonight, so I didn't get to spend much time with her. I'm still trying to figure out the radio, etc. There are so many buttons and doodads to mess with, I'll probably spend all day Saturday sitting in the garage fiddling with controls and making vroom vroom sounds with my mouth.

I sold my 2008 Miata (special edition) in September when I was offered $2500 more than we paid for it. Didn't think I'd miss the top down driving or the manual, but talked to a MCS owner and started shopping. Now I have a convertible and manual again and couldn't be happier! The Miata was a lot of fun on the twisties, but the MCS is a blast all the time. Congratulations and enjoy!

Still have my '91 supercharged Miata.

It shares the garage with my '09 factory JCW. (See my gallery)
It may be time to get rid of my Miata as well. Too much fun with the JCW. Of course, the older I get, the harder it is to get in and out of the Miata.
Very nice phinzup!

I remember you from miata.net. I was "captain standish" there. I had an ultra-low mileage '90 Silverstone, which I sold earlier this year to a VERY happy buyer. Now I have an ultra, ULTRA-low mileage all-black '05 R53.
I only miss the convertible maybe 3 or 4 days in the year, but on those days I miss it sorely. The rest of the time, it's too cold or too hot or I'm on my bike. The biggest thing I miss about the Miata is the shifter. The MINI's shifter feels like it's going to flop out in my hand compared to the precise rifle-ratchet action of the Miata's.

Ah, miata.net. Was/is a great place for all things Miata. What Mazda did with the Miata owner's was great. Lots of official Miata gatherings all over the US and Canada. Lots of old friends; from the "leaders", Gary Ficshman (Mr. miata.net), Norm Garret (Miata engineer), Vince Tidwell (MCA), Tom Matano (Mr. Miata), Barbara Beach, etc. to all the wonderful Miata owner's who I had the pleasure to meet. I know MINI owners are a great group but I'm not sure they will ever match the Miata fanatics in the earlier years.

Despite the modest "Yet Another Former Miata Owner" header, the OP is/was in that elite group as well. It is true, even just m-net alone represents a larger fanbase of Miata owners than all the MINI forums combined, for MINI owners. NAM is kind of a busy forum, but m-net has A LOT of traffic...the most I've ever seen for a car forum. I've found myself frustrated on here looking for audio system-related info, because a comparable query on m-net would yield such an overwhelming amount of good, valid answers (as well as an equal amount of wisecracks/junk...but to be expected). The "Garage" DIY section alone on m-net is priceless...

not too long ago I lived on the edge of some wonderful Virginia twisty lands
and the garage held:
First generation Miata - 1995
First generation MINI - 2002 S
Classic Mini - 1979 very modified . . .
on a 'driving day' I'd head out over 'the route' on one, then the other, then the other . . .
so different
so much fun
