Hey from NJ!

Just got my first mini! 2011 cooper, white silver metallic, all the nice options. I'm in love with it Only downside is, this was possibly the worst season to buy a brand new car in! Too hard to keep clean and too cold outside to wash :.(

thanks for all the welcomes! attached are some picts as requested. Been wondering how they are in the snow now that it's that time of year. The salesman told me that they're pretty awesome in it, but anything to make a sale right? So I was looking for some first hand opinions from experience. Any input is appreciated

I used to have an '01 civic coupe before my mini, and it was awful in the snow. I got stuck numerous times because it was so lightweight and a pretty long car for a coupe. I'm hoping that since the mini has that renown "fat and wide" (bulldog) stance, the low center of gravity and sturdiness (it's a pretty heavy car) will benefit it while driving through snow.

Congrats and welcome to the world of MINI

It's great in the snow, but if you can get snow tires, It'll be even better.

NJ owner here too

Welcome, I'm in NJ too. I've had my mini for about 3 weeks now. I just got my Pirelli Run Flat Snow tires yesterday. As soon as snow is in the forecast I will partake in the joy of dismounting and mounting runflats. Tewksbury NJ here!

thanks! I'm in northeast NJ. I'll have had my mini 3 weeks on Tuesday. The weather calls for temps in the 30's this weekend, but I'm planning to get my bucket and sponge out anyway! All the purée leaf looks bad on it

Hot water from the tap, makes it a little easier

The NJ winters haven't been a problem so far - snow tires and a steady foot will get you past most of the SUV's wedged in the snowbanks areound here. Welcome to the NJ MINI community!

I am moving back to NJ from CA soon, I just bought a mini (yay =).. ) but I have to replace the tires since I bought them with run-flats. im not into changing my tires throughout the seasons... what do you guys recommend since youre already in jersey?

im not really sure what size wheels i have i think 15's? I have a 2002 mini cooper.

Haven't driven it in the snow yet, although it's currently bilzzard-ing outside so I'm sure I'll get some experience very soon. I had read somewhere on my dealer's new inventory site that it isn't necessary at all to change the tires for the winter since they come with all season ones on them, so if anything, I'd recommend getting all-season tires as replacements.

I installed my snow tires this morning and the forecast is for 12-18 inches here in NJ tonight. Tomorrow I will see how good these little cars are in the snow. Snow tires make all the difference when it comes to the white stuff, so I am hoping to feel invincible.

If you have the OEM all season runflats you'll want to get winters if you're planning on driving, unless of course you enjoy four wheel drifts at 10 miles an hour.

I bought Pirelli Snows as Runflats. I figured no reason to bypass the runflats when it comes to handling. In 16 inch, they are not obnoxiously stiff.

I just bought them today as well. OEM 16's with Pirelli Winter run flats. I'll have them early this week.
