Hi Gang,
Checking in to say hello and introduce myself. Proud new owner of a 2007 Nightfire Red Metallic Hardtop - purchased from Global Imports BMW/MINI here in Atlanta on December 4, 2010.

I must confess, I am a Corvette guy and know almost nothing about the MINI I purchased the car as a Christmas present for my 16 year old daughter who has been a MINI fiend for as long as I can remember (shhh....she doesn't know she has the car yet ) - she knows more about the car now than than I ever will !!!

I've lurked around several MINI forums and this one seems to be the one for me to learn from--an active membership, lots of subject matter experts willing to share information, and some pretty cool events.

I've had some great experiences and learned a lot with the gang over on CorvetteForum.com and hope my daughter and I can do the same here.

Please gentle as I ask tons of dumb questions - I promise to search before I ask

Welcome, Nightfire. You're not the only one here who just bought his daughter a used MINI (look for the recent long thread by MrSurly).

I'm fairly new here myself, but I think you've found the right place. I owned a '64 Austin Mini Cooper S decades ago, but have already learned a ton about new MINIs here. Yes, search is my friend.

 

I did not know what I was getting into when I bought mine two months ago. Mini fans are deep into their cars.

Thank you all for the wonderful welcome. My daughter is gonna be waaaayyyy excited to get her dream car (almost as excited as I am ).

I picked up the car on 12/4/10 (it's still at the dealership waiting for me to bring it home) and it's supposed to be a Christmas present for her...I just can't wait another day. I'm getting the car tomorrow and "hiding" it in the garage here at the house.

My daughter is out of town visiting her older sister now. She's gonna get the shock of her life when she opens the garage on Monday...it's gonna be awesome I'll try to capture it on video for you all to see.

Here's my daughter's MINI. Just have to do a little detailing of my own, back it into the garage, put the big red bow the dealer gave me on it, and wait for Monday
