new owner, questions and observations
I have been looking at used minis for a while trying to find the features I was looking for. The big one has been mfsw with no sunroof. I finally found one with a very strange option set. It is a 2007 with climate control, mfsw but no sun roof; navigation but no bluetooth, dsc and stripes but nothing from the rest of the sport package. Works great for me but seems a little odd.
All of the minis I have test driven have had sunroofs and the grey roof. This one has no sun roof and a black roof and it makes the car feel smaller. If I was building the car without a sunroof, I would definitely go with the lighter colored roof.
I am a pretty big guy, 6'6" with wide shoulders. I would prefer that the opening for the armrest would extend higher. My elbow sits right at the plastic piece above the armrest instead of inside the well.
The biggest problem I have had with the car is that the roof of the car is in the top third of my vision. I am getting bad headaches while driving because my eyes keep switching focus between the road and the ceiling. I have also had this problem in other cars with dark tinting across the top of the windshield. I think this is more of a getting used to the car issue rather than a real problem.
Is it possible to sand down the edges of the stock armrest? Mine is quite sharp and I have already skinned my knuckles. If it is painted, I probably won't sand it down but if it is just grey plastic, I will.
In the driver's side footwell, I can see the universal joint for the steering turning behind the brake pedal. Should there be a cover for that?
