Greetings all! My name is Jason and I'm new to NAM. I'm a GTI convert and having owned one of every series of GTI, it was difficult to make the switch. But I always wanted a Mini and decided that it was time to pull the trigger. Damn glad I did. This car makes me giggle on a regular basis. It's just so much damn fun. I bought it back in July and recently found my way over to the NAM forums and decided to join after lurking and reading threads for a while.
Thanks! Other than the typical issues with cosmoline seepage (I've had the wheel well flares replaced three times now) I'm really happy with the car. That stereo is woeful though. I'm gonna have to delve into a serious upgrade this spring.
Great pics of your new cutie, it's good to hear that your transition from the GTI to the Mini was well worth it! Do you have a military sticker on your windsheild?

Awesome, and you're stationed in Cali? My husband is in the Marine Corps, we are stationed in Hawaii. Which is why my MCS won't be here till March...
I'm actually back home in California. I did seven and a half years on active duty then returned back here to serve out my remaining time in the reserve.
I'm also a former VeeDub owner. Over the years, I've had a '95 GTI and a '02 GTI, both with VR6s. I enjoyed both GTIs, but I'm enjoying my MINI even more! I think you'll be pleased with the change.
I've had many GTI's. Over the years I've owned an 84', 89', 92', 97', 04' and most recently I had a 2008. Only one had the VR6 and I felt it was just too heavy. The balance is much better with the four cylinders.
