Coolant leaks

HI everyone,

One of my automobiles is a 2006 MINI R-50 with 9,300 miles .
This car does not get driven much and hides in my garage away from the weather.
I walked in a few days ago and found coolant leaking from the thermostat housing. The BMW/MINI dealers tell me it is because I don't drive the car enough , OH PLEASE,how could that make any sense at all?
Has anyone experienced this before, Yes ,I have removed the battery and Air inlet housing and determined where the leak is but have not drained the cooling system.

Thermostat leak is common, lots of threads on this, but I don't think anyone has ever said it is caused by not driving the car enough.

I Find it interesting you were able to find more than one BMW/MINI service dept to say that was the reason.......did either one elaborate ?

Thanks for the response, no they did not elaborate but I do deal with Service Advisors, not the actual Tech's .I found it humorous that they would quickly put it off so quickly as being a fault of the owner rather than acknowledge a similar issue in other cars.
these dealers are in Florida, New York and California as well as Houston so all had the same response
