Hey y'all I'm a 3d animator from Houston. I'm looking at getting a 2nd gen cooper s to replace my current car, a decently modded 2005 Mazda6, that has got 102k miles on it and has begun giving me trouble. I look forward to getting to know some of y'all an learning all I can about the mini.

In the same boat
Hey CKeffer, you and I are in the same boat. I have pulled the trigger already and am waiting the delivery of my 2011 JCW in a couple weeks.

It's official, come tomorrow evening, I'll be the proud owner of a nicely loaded 2010 S hardtop. Dark silver, MTX, and just over 7K on the clock. :D

Nice, very sweet! What's the HP of a Turbo S? Why did Mini go from S/C to turbo in the Gen 2? Think the HP on a S/C is 177.

I want to say that power output remains the same. As for why the change, I have no clue. Anyone else have any input on this?

Yes, after some digging, the HP is slightly up for a turbo. I would think that's it's less expensive to put on a Turbo & no belt or pulley to break.

Hmm, you may be right on the cost cutting thing. I know that turbos are more efficient since they are not run on a pulley, so maybe that plays into it as well?

Yep, it takes no HP to run a turbo as well!
