The Italian Job

Has anybody seen either Italian Job movie lately? Just watched both and they are both hilarious in there own ways but can't really be compared to each other. After seeing the new one for the gazillionth time I noticed that the blue and white MINI's are actually modded Cooper's not an actuall Cooper S. Mabey I should stop being the critic I am and just sit back and enjoy the movie

And I believe the ones that go underground in the LA subway tunnels are electric powered due to exhaust emissions.

If I recall, the PW had a regular white roof which was never offered.

Yeah remember reading somewhere that they used the MINI-e but don't remember where I read that. Hopefully they stick with a MINI for the
Brazilian Job That's going to be a movie worth seeing in the theaters

Good Movies

I have heard or read someplace that Fiat was a big sponsor of both movies. They actually provided the Mini Coopers and their assembly plant in Italy for doing some filming on the first one.

Then when they decided to do the second Italian job Fiat was there to help with a lot of the permits Etc as well as some sponsorship.

I'm really thinking it was on one of the shows like 20/20 or 60 minutes or one of the shows like them.

Y does this statement confuse me so much.. Sure it wasnt BMW cause if it was fiat then it's time to get the Olson twins cause there is a mystery to solve. (the Olson twins before they were cracked up)

Have to say that this is one of those rare examples where the new movie is better than the original. I found the original a bit too psychedelic. It was OK, but the newer movie was more fun.

Both did what I expect a movie to do - entertain. I am so sick of the preachy drivel Hollywood keeps foisting on us. Gimme action and car chases and throw in a hot blonde and I'm happy.

BMW did not own Mini in 1969

If you look on the credits at the end of the first 1969 Movie you will read We thank Fiat for their help. Everyone knows Fiat helped sponsor the first movie even though they used Mini Coopers.

I don't see the name Fiat on the credits of the new movie but from what I had seen they did help with that movie also. There are a lot of credits on the new movie from Italian companys. (One of them may be owned by the Fiat Corperation)

I just got to start writing things down when I see stuff with Mini's or the Italian Job movie in it. Since I'm retired I watch way to much TV.

The reason they say thanks to Fiat at the end is because they used the Fiat test track, the one that was on top of a building, in the movie. Fiat had nothing to do with getting the Mini's.

And the cars were early production Coopers (2) and a Cooper S.

In the extra's section of the DVD for the modern Italian Job they spend a little time talking about the MINIs used in the film. They were all essentially stock--they had a small fleet that they destroyed during filming. I really don't think there were any electric MINIs used in the filming--at least I don't recall them mentioning that.

They had to use the electric MINI's in the underground part of the movie for carbon monoxide reasons. They just made the electric ones look like normal MINI's and also added the sound effects later.

Yes, they were not allowed to use any internal combustion vehicles underground. Three specially constructed MINIs were built for those scenes, which does not include the subway tunnel which was a set.

Is that a wax Job?

That reminds me, My sis-in-law gave me that movie for my BD, than they borrowed it, I need to ask for it back so I can drool over the fast Mini's.

A good thing................my wife has been bitten by the MINI bug worse than me if you can believe it.
