Thanks, the car comes with the convience plus option and my understanding is that GPS can be installed. Yes I understand that there are many external including my phone that have GPS for less. This optional convience package allows google maps to be used so we may not need GPS. I will need to play with before deciding. What GPS do you use?

Check out the EcoRoute HD with a Garmin 1390/1490. You can show stats from your OBD II port on the GPS unit. What factory nav does that?

On TomTom's website, you can sign up and download POIs that people have made. So for example, when I went to Markham on a business trip, I downloaded all the Starbucks POIs so I can find one quickly. Also, people made car icons as well, so you can use that for your car. Although I haven't checked if they Mini's.
I don't know if Garmin has this capability now though, maybe it does.

I have a two yr. old Garmin mounted on a FlexpodFixie and it works great. I love it. For me, I can upgrade / replace my Garmin about 5 times over the life of the vehicle for the same cost as purchasing factory / dealer installed Nav. that will be out of warranty less than halfway through the lifespan of the car. We have two relatively new vehicles now that are loaded with most or all available options except Nav. I'd rather use that big $$$ that a factory Nav. costs elsewhere on the vehicle. How many Garmin's or TomTom's would be in vehicles today if they cost what factory Nav. costs?
