Cruise Control problem

I just purchased a 2005 Mini Cooper S. The Cruise Control does not work. I am told that a previous owner changed the factory radio to something else and this caused the Cruise Control to stop functioning. The factory-issue radio has been re-installed, but this did not correct the problem with the Cruise Control. Any ideas what might be wrong?
