My son was stationed in Germany for a year.
When he got back to the states, 30 speeding tickets were sent to him.
Nasty little devices those speed cameras.

Had to do some thinking on this.
My last speeding ticket was in 1973.
Was on my way to Daytona to watch the 24 hours race.
Was coming up north on I-95, in my 1964 Austin Healey 3000.
Was going 90+.
Didn't have radar dectors in those days.
FHP got me at 92 mph, wrote me up for 65.
The ticket costs less than a $100.00.
Don't know how I've gone this long without one.
Happy motoring.

I liked the speed cameras, it meant the cops weren't stalking the roads and you could speed if you wanted as long as you slow down before the cameras. They did their job perfectly IMO which was to slow down traffic where necessary and leave people alone where it isn't. Almost as though they consider speed limits to be a safety thing rather than be a revenue stream, what a concept!

I'm sure they have served the purpose for which they were intended.
I know my son learned a big lesson from them.
As you stated, they are not using the cameras for revenue purposes but for safety.
If that system was used here in the states it whould be a perfect way for the local governments to make money.
