New MINI owner questions about high mileage

I just purchased my daughter a 2011 MINI. That got this started. My wife just purchased a 2010 s Camden MINI. I am now looking at a used 04 JCW MINI. The car has 99,000 miles and is currently in shop getting new belts and tensioners I believe he said. He is currently asking 8,000 for the vehicle. Is this too high mileage for this vehicle. It looks great all black with dark tinted windows. I know the only thing else it needs at the moment according to owner is two wheel sensors as the warning lights for the TPM and the traction control keep coming on. This is what he told me is the problem. Do you believe that is correct and is it possible for someone with mechanical ability to change these themselves. Let me know what you guys think. Thanks!!!

Welcome cevans!!!

That's a whole lot of MINI'S in one family!!

I would honestly keep shopping around for another MINI.

$8000.00 seems high to me.

I paid about 8k for my 2003 MCS w/ 132k miles. Whether I was ripped off or not who knows but I enjoy the MINI regardless. Go with your gut feeling that's what I always say!

I would look for something with lower miles.

These are just the issues discovered, disclosed or chosen to be dealt with as being the worst of the worst. Drop this one like a hot plate from the oven.

IMHO, I would keep looking. If you really want this car, I would ask for service records. That will give you an idea of how well the car was cared for. Then I would have a full inspection done by shop that deals with MINI's or a dealer that you trust.

try http://www.google.com

use "site:northamericanmotoring.com high mileage"

I used to keep up, and consolidate information to this thread (but I got lazy eventually)...

https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...h-mileage.html

Cheers,

Charlie

A Big Thanks to all who replied. I am supposed to meet with the owner and car tomorrow and he told me I am welcome to meet with a local BMW shop that has gone over the car and knows what issues it has, so hopefully that might give me some leverage to get the price down a good bit.

Service records mandatory for 99k also take the car to a MINI dealer
and pay for an inspection..It will be worth its weight in gold...Then
you can make and informed decision.

New info on car I' considering, Its an MC40

Just found some more info on the car I am considering. Even though car is black, I just had someone tell me the car was red and has a dash plaque and the red/black leather seats. It is also a John Cooper Works version. I have only seen the car so far behind a fence at a local MINI/BMW shop. The inside of the doors are still red as is under the hood. Black paint looks really sharp, but seems someone got lazy on paint job. Anyway, just wondering if the price of 8,000 for a MC40 with 99,000 miles is more appropriate. The shop has had the car for over a week now and owner is about ready for me to go by shop and look at car and make him an offer. I will probably go by the shop tomorrow to look at car. I may be able to pick up car much cheaper than 8,000 cause it seems he is just ready to get rid of it. He does not know that the car is an MC40. He purchased it on a car lot about 2 years ago and just liked it because its black with dark tint. Let me know what you guys think. This will not be a daily driver for me, just more of a playtoy to go have fun and maybe autocross some.
