I placed my order on 5/02. My MCS with Connected/Nav was delayed due to tsunami related shortages but it's officially underway. It was in the body shop as of this morning with an estimated completion date of 6/09. Maybe we'll be shipmates!

Ordered mine 5/7, my MA told me Monday it's in production, but couldn't tell when they started or when it will be done (I assume it started sometime last week). Same response from the live folks at ASK MINI. The Owner's Lounge finally has it "scheduled for production" as of this AM , but at least I have a VIN now. Hopefully it will be done by the end of this week.

Does MCS = MINI Cooper S?
If so I ordered my MCS Hardtop with Connected/Nav and Automatic transmission. From what I've been reading on these forums it sounds like all of this contributed to my long wait.
So do you guys see more MINI's on the road now that you've ordered one? I see them all of the time now.

Yes, MCS = MINI Cooper S. Here's the abbreviation cheat sheet that someone kindly put together (very helpful for those of us new to MINIs, thanks to biggripper and the other contributors)

My MA told me that the Nav was a big part of the delay - they're made in Japan, and like most automotive parts, production was hammered by the quake/tsunami (be glad you're not buying a Toyota). In fact, he told me that shortly after I ordered mine, they were informed that they couldn't order Nav systems for the time-being.
I've been seeing them on the road for awhile, but I've known for several months that I was going to have to replace my 95 Probe GT soon (by this summer - A/C is down and parts are not available), and I zoned in on the MCS pretty early on.

I think I'm part of this group. How do you know where on the line your Min is? I ordered on 5/27, status changed to in production on 5/31 and scheduled to be completed 6/10. That's all I know. My MA hasn't told me much of anything so all I have is the Owner's lounge.
I called ask Mini but they only tell me estimated completion date. After that, how long before I get it? :D. I know it's going through the Baltimore, but that's it.

I think you have to talk to a person at ASK MINI to get more detailed information, seems like the automated system only gives an estimated completion date.
Looks like you're on the fast track, I wish I had been that lucky.

I just called ASK MINI and my car is being assembled! My estimated completion date is today, I hope that stays true. Needless to say I will be calling tomorrow to see if it's complete.

My estimated completion date was the 9th. But because I'm in Iraq, it was the evening of the 10th for me when I called ASK MINI, but it was right after they opened on the 10th. All they told me was that it was finished, not when it was finished. When I had called on the 8th, they said it was in paint. So I don't know if it was finished on the estimated completion date, or the day after.
From what I understand, assembly and QA both happen in one day.

Mini Tracking
I'm currently "awaiting transport" and I can see that there R many more like me... but they all seem to have knowledge of the ship it's coming over on and the dates of est. arrival. Can someone give a brother a clue? How do you find the ship's name and dates? Mini stoopid?
OK thanks to all for the help! One thing you should mention is the you have to set your IE security to medium or low to get the WW shipping site to open enough to enter your VIN. or use FireFox.
Ah yes I forgot, My mini will be here 07/11/11 so I should get it by the 18th....HoooRey!

I just called my MA and he said my car is on a ship that sailed on 6/11. OL still shows as waiting transport (and from what I've read, OL doesn't update once past production well). I did a search and found only one ship departing on 6/11 which is Falstaff. If this is correct...I was able to find it here...
