New Cooper owner Has PS problems needs help

First thing I love my MINI problems and all. It's a 2003 S with 79K and is just beautiful to me in indy blue. The cat still looks new. I hope this isn't the being of alot more problems?? It has a new super charger. I am dealing with a failing PS pump and fan. I didn't know something was still running after I turned it off and drained my battery completely. Couldn't even jump start it. We recharged the battery and had no problem, but something is still running after I turn off the car. I read that it was the PS pump and to pull out the F41 5a fuse but that didn't do it. I can still hear something running when you turn the car off. Is there something else I can do other than disconnect the battery every time I get out of the car? I'm trying to find another pump and fan. I'm only driving my Mini if I have to, but I got to get it fixed and it looks like it could cost $800 - $1000 and thats with my husband doing the work. If anyone has any suggestions PLEASE let me know. Any help would be appreciate. THANKS!!!
