Also was wondering how do you know its in the paint shop or body shop... does ASK-MINI say that or do you have to call and speak to a live person?

My car was an estimated completion date of August 23rd.

So far the changes in announcement on ASK-MINI have been...
8/22 - Body shop
8/23 - Paint shop
8/24 - Released to carrier/awaiting transport

Earlier today I got a "Your vehicle is in transit" message, although I ended up checking again later and it's now back to released/awaiting - so I may have typed my production number in wrong at some point.

I like yours too xenor! My last car was silver so I went with something totally different. I was regretting not getting the roof rails so now I'm not regretting it so much to hear of your experience. My 6'3, 200 pound son took it out for a drive and giggled like a little girl the whole time. It's a fun car.

Have you noticed the exhaust gurgle/pop in sport mode?. Definitely not as loud as my last car, but still fairly aggressive for a stock exhaust.

I installed LED bulbs in a bunch of interior spots tonight, so I already have the mod bug!

I have noticed and actually have turned the music down so I could listen! I haven't caught the mod bug yet but it's only a matter of time.

called ASK_MNI today..they said I am in the paint & body shops in the next two days..and look good for 8/31 completion!! typically how long do the sit in the yard before boarding the train...i think we should ask mini to install cameras at key points and RFID tag them .. they do it at ski resorts you get an RFID attached and it snaps pics as you head down the hill http://myfleye.com/ ...would be great to see your Mini along all the steps!!

Shouldn't be long now! You'll have fun tracking it on a ship once it's on one.

They totally need RFID tags and pictures of the production stops.

If they had RFID tracking and pictures of the car, I don't know that any of us would get anything else done the whole time we were waiting for our cars.

NH_Countryman, sounds like your getting close to having a finished car!

The MINIs are already RFID'd (or similar technology) at the factory. The production line basically begins with the transponder and then they pin all the bits relevant to that car to the transponder, starting with the right body panels. You end up with a complete MINI to custom spec.

Ok so we need to get that tech over there... that would be cool to see it at each stage

I broke down and emailed my MA ..this was his response

You have good info, my system shows your car completed this morning and is now status " produced not shipped."
Until your MINI gets on a boat everything is a guess. After that point we can be a lot more accurate with our guesses because certain aspects of the trip are the same every time.

Keep an eye on things and I will let you know as soon as I see it on a boat!
