It can take up to three weeks barring any supply problems as was caused by the Japan Earthquake earlier this year. We place our order around July 20th it stayed in being scheduled for production until the 15th or 16th of August and was completed on the 19th. Our baby will be transported by ship on the 31st and delivery should be by Sept 30th.

I ordered a 2012 MINI on July 7, 2011 and it is now on a boat en route to the USA. Although I am very excited, I have had numerous problems with the sales people (e.g., I had to fire my original MA due to him removing some options that I requested, and adding other options that I did not request, to the purchase agreement -- then he gave me 24 hours to make up my mind after previously assuring me that I would have a full 11 days to make up my mind after I put down my $1000 deposit). After I fired him, the sales manager agreed to serve as my MA, but he has a tendency to ignore my emails until about the 3rd try. I am always polite and respectful in my emails but continue to get the persona nongrata treatment from this dealership. So........was wondering what the best way(s) would be to post a review about my experiences so that others can avoid this particular dealership and the problems I have encountered? Does MINI corporate provide a way for their customers to review their car buying experiences? Are there other effective ways to get the word out to potential MINI buyers about this particular dealership?

Hello all. Just ordered a 2012 Coupe S, Eclipse Grey, black roof, Black/beige leather seats, Blk conical spoke tires, black stripes, piano black on the interior, on Monday. I sold my early production 05, pepper white Cooper on the weekend. I got lucky in that my Mini dealer had one last spot open for their Aug slots so my coupe S should go into production next week (cross fingers). Going to be a long 2 months.

Hi everyone. I am new to the board. I've ordered a 2012 Mini Cooper S on July 23. It finished production yesterday (8/23). Now hopefully it gets on a boat soon and en route to Port Hueneme. My dealership is located in San Diego, CA.

Hi PatM
I ordered my Mini S on 7/18 and it was completed on Monday (5 weeks later). Yeah!!! But from what I have read August is vacation month at the plant. Maybe that caused the delay. I have read a lot of posts talking about starting production within a week or two. Maybe yours will be quicker!

Update: My wife's Mini is scheduled to be completed today on 8/24. Let's hope it makes it on the Toscana (which is the next West Coast ship, departing 8/31 I think).
Also, even though it has an automatic, she got a production number when she ordered the car on 8/14, and it went into production a couple days later.

Based on my experience it may be tight. It was kind of a pain for us. Both of our cars were actually completed at the same time but mine missed the boat. I thought it took 3 days. At least that is what I recall. Hopefully yours will make it. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you.
Good Luck.
Pat

OK--my first post: I ordered a 2012 Laser Blue/Black Mini Cooper, heated seats, sunroof, center armrest, and of course, manual transmission around the end of July. My first Mini! AND first time ordering a car... Just found out from the Owner's Lounge that my car is "Awaiting Transport"! Haven't tried 866-ASK-MINI yet; shipping info is my next quest. I'm SO EXCITED! Thanks for all the great info and moral support!
Update: ASK MINI says my Mini is at the port, waiting for shipping. Maybe I can get on the Elektra, too!

Have been waiting patiently for my car to make any sort of moves through production, and today it finally moved from "in production" to "in the body shop"! phew...I was beginning to think it would never move. Was listed as "in production" from 8/19-8/25...maybe not that long, perhaps normal. but boy it sure felt like it was never going to move.
How long does a car normally take once it gets moving? As in - moves from simply "in production" to actually starting to move through the line?
