A New MINI Owner (soon)

Hello everyone - I have been recently lurking this forum as I am about to purchase a new 2012 MINI.

Picking up the new MINI Cooper hardtop, in pepper white, with the pana roof on Monday. Here's a picture of the car:

I am happy to admit that this is the first car I've ever been excited to own. I can appreciate cars, but was never a car buff - until now.

I hope to learn a lot at these forums - happy motoring everyone.

Thanks a lot. There is just something about a MINI. She is a manual transmission.

I can imagine what you're going through waiting.

It's one of the reasons why we were searching dealers within a 3 hour drive - to find the exact model we wanted, rather than wait 6-8 weeks.

We looked for so long we were just about to give up and place an order when my wife found the exact one we've been looking for (and weird coincidence, the car's manufacture date just happens to be my wife's birthday!)

The dealer was 5 hours away, but well worth the drive.

I ordered my Mini Cooper Hardtop S in Midnight Black with !6 inch 6 spoke black rims 6 speed manual. The wait is also killing me. I called ASK MINI and they haven't given me an exact date when I should receive it.( not sure if the 2012's are delayed? Haven't heard much about the differences between that and the 2011) But it is in production, not sure what stage though! Can't Wait

The wait must be killing you! But it's worth the wait that's for sure. Here's wishing that your wait is short!

ASK MINI doesn't usually have accurate dates of completion. And about 2012 delays, apparently there was a delay at the plant (Sometime in July probably) because a lot of the workers were on vacation, but everything should be speeding up now. How long ago did your order your car?

I ordered it on July 23rd. My dealer said 6-8 weeks, of course he didn't tell me that the plant goes on vacation FTW. But hopefully they are speeding up, do you know of any physical changes the 2012's will have?

Congrats she's a real beauty. I ordered my 2012 CMS convertible on 07/17. Went into production on 08/05 and was finished last Friday 08/12. Today she's at the port waiting for her transatlantic cruise. So, the 2012 MCS' are in full production.

Haha well now you don't have to worry about workers going on vacations! The 6-8 week wait is a great estimate. I've been waiting for 6 weeks and my Mini just got on a boat. Just double check on your Mini's status with the live reps at ASK MINI.

My dealer said that most of the changes were done to the 2011, so there probably weren't any major changes. I don't know of any specific ones, sorry! -.-

My wife and I have wanted a mini ever since we heard they were coming to the U.S. We test drove one 2 days ago and it was truly amazing how substantial the car feels. The only thing I've driven that has that "Fun Factor", is a m3 oddly enough. Although, comparing anything to an m3 isn't very fair. Not sure when we will be ordering one , but it will probably be sooner than later. Congrats to everyone who will be taking ownership soon. Hope to be doing the same in the coming months.
