waiting to motor!

Hey folks

I'm currently waiting for my new Mini Coupe S which will hopefully be here late Dec. Ever since I drove my mother in laws Hardtop on a 700 mile trip with my wife I decided it was time to trade in the Jeeps and 1/4 ton pickups I've been driving for the last 20 years and go all out Mini! I love these cars and can't wait to experience them full time!

Glad to be on board!

It's just hard sitting so low when you have been "raised" in tall truck like vehicles... That's why I am keeping the 4Runner around!

Welcome. Your going to absolutely love that Coupe. I know I love mine. It's fast as all get out, sounds great and I just love driving it.

I enjoyed my R56 but I already know I am going to enjoy this car a lot more. I've said it before that this may become my all time favorite car.

Have fun with your new ride. I know I'm having fun with mine. Almost 1200 miles on Brewster. Actually I think it's 1180. I'm starting to run up the RPM just a bit more and I can really feel the power now. The exhaust sound has really peaked as well.

Motor On!!

Thanks for the welcome folks. No doubt it's strange sitting so low and in some ways I hate to get rid of my Jeep liberty since I'm sure there will be a time it would come in handy ie. snow.

EDIT: To save you guys a long rant about my ordering process. Long story short...made order for a Coupe S but failed to get some of the features I wanted. Upon discovering that I tried to rectify it but the Coupe had already gone to production making changes a no go. Saw my MA today and worked everything out better than I'd hoped!

Well what a difference a day can make. I talked to my dealer and they were great. I'll be getting exactly what I want/need and although it will cost more in the short term it will save me in the long run! I'm a happy camper waiting eagerly to officially be titled...MINI owner!

Something similar happened with me, almost. I was sitting waiting for production FOREVER, then decided to make some changes, and of course that's when they decided it was going to go into production the next day. I ended up about 10 days behind where I could have been, but like you, I think in the long run I'll be happier with the features I added.

Make sure you hop over to the R58 forum and join the spreadsheet tracking all of our Coupes... it's so much fun seeing them all come in one by one

Thanks for the heads up on the tracking thread. I'll head over there and add my info.

This is the first car I will have owned that I actually got the chance to order specifically for me. Every other car I've had has been a car the dealer already had on lot so it's pretty exciting. One thing I've noticed is that it makes you appreciate the car your getting so much more since it's truly "your car" in ever sense of the word. It also means that you have time to sit and wait and wait and wonder and wonder and find things you wish you had ordered, etc. Ha! Definitely easy to get lost in it.

Funny, when I went in yesterday to re-order the car with the features I wanted I knew my way around the MINIUSA website better than my MA. He was laughing at the fact I was showing him areas of the site he didn't even know about! Unfortunately the lesson didn't get me any more discounts, lol!
