So I am anxiously.....ANXIOUSLY...awaiting the shipment of my new mini coupé S. mini owners lounge isn't very forthcoming so I've been searching my own... A lot. Haha. So I just found my shipping order with WW. Got so excited to see that it was scheduled for shipment and received on Nov 11th with a delivery date at my VDC of Dec 2nd. But then on the same day, only hours later, it said "return to shipper" then no info after that. What's going on??? :-(

 

What happens is this: your car arrives on the dock and, with great hope, is booked for WW to pick it up. A WW ship arrives and fills up before yours gets loaded. So, then it's "returned to shipper" for that particular journey. Typically, your vehicle ends up on the next WW ship after that, unless they continue to be hopelessly optimistic and keep booking you when there is no room.

 

I am in the same situation. How were you able to find the shipping order. I was told mine entered the paint shop on 11/17 with a completion date of 11/20...any help appreciated...

 

My S Coupe was scheduled for week 44 production -- then week 45, then week 47 and now week 49. Does anyone else have the JCW appearance package ordered? MA thinks this may be the hold up. (out of stock)

 

Not sure if it helps or not, but my week 37 built MCS Coupe has the JCW package on it and there weren't any build delays for it (although shipping delays are another story).

 

Just finished talking to my MA. My car finished build on the 10th of Nov. no way it could have gotten to the docks one day later. The paperwork was filed but since there was no car it was returned. I should be on the ship leaving on the 22nd which is what I was anticipating anyway.
The way I tracked my car, wingding, was that I entered my VIN# athe the shipping website http://www.2wglobal.com/www/WEP/index.jsp. If you are being shipped with that company then the info will pop up. If you are going K-Line which is another company. It's very difficult.
I was a week 45 build and it's ready. Just gotta get on the boat. So hoping for pre Christmas delivery.

After completion it has to ride the rail to the dock, which in most situations happens in about 24 hours. So basically I would start with the idea that the earliest your car might catch a boat would be 11/22, keeping in mind that other cars may be ahead of yours stuck in the OP's situation of not fitting on the previous boat.

If you get booked on a WW ship, you can go to their site and look up your VIN as the Cargo ID -- instructions for this are in the main "how do I track my MINI" thread. If you find nothing, it's not booked to load yet OR it's going on a K-Line ship, which you can't track as easily.

Anyway, if you enter your VIN on WW and it finds it, you can check its itinerary there. If the status is "returned to shipper," you've got to wait for another boat. Fun note -- my VIN comes up twice because my first run was "returned to shipper" but it made the next ship. So my VIN is forever marked with its failed voyage.

 

DAVESTER, I too had a week 44 build but due to "retooling at the factory" for something or other (?) mine has been pushed to a december 5th build. However my guy is a factory JCW cabrio.

To the OP, I too have heard that if it doesn't make the cruise it will show as a "return to shipper". Just hope it's on a WW so you can track it easier . Let us know.

Curious, how did you find out about your build week and this "retooling at the factory" stuff? At the moment I am "scheduled for production" which hasn't changed since the 10th or so. This being the case I may be in the same boat as you. Not a literal boat unfortunately

 

I'm military sales and my MA originally had me for a dealer slot week 44. Then it got changed and according to here email, it was due to "mini orders with the JCW aerodynamics being moved" thus the December 5th start build date. Not sure it it has to do with me being a factory JCW, a Cabrio or both. After it's built it should set sail for California

 

Thanks for the info...Ask Mini and the live assistance both say completion date tomorrow. Neither have any more info after that.
