A couple questions about my Mini

1. Is it normal for the DRLs to be full on? I mean its basically the same as the lights at night. Shouldn't just one light be on rather than all the lights. And I believe the brake lights are on too. Maybe the PO had this changed?

2. I have the heated seats but are they supposed to be crazy hot? After about 15 mins on the lowest level I have to turn it off. I can't imagine leaving it on the highest setting.

your DRL's should be on when the car is on. but your headlights (and foglights if you have them) should only be on when you turn them on with the selector lever or toggle switch.

Are your seats cloth or leather or leatherette? Ive noticed mine seem crazy hot too, but mine are one of the leather and cloth combos that has cloth where your butt goes, I kinda figured it was just because they were built to heat through leather. Mine seem to sort of cycle off after a while though.

No, Im with you. They are the hottest Ive felt on a car. Do yours seem to cool off after a bit? Ive noticed mine stop being so hot after 15 minutes or so. I assume they have some kinda timer?

For my car (an '05 R53) I have leatherette seats and it does get hot. It is a perfect temperature for me on the lowest setting if I have a coat on.

On the light stalk on the left side of the wheel, you have the light switch at the very end of it. When it is turned all the way toward you, it is off. When you turn it one notch away from you the driving lights will be on, the headlights will be off, and if you have fog lamps you can turn those on if you'd wish (with the center console switch). Then if you turn the switch the furthest notch away from you the driving lights, headlights and (if you turn them off with the center switch) the fog lights will be on too.

well now I'm really confused. When I bought the car and until now the headlight switch has always been on the A setting (all the way toward me). I assumed this meant Automatic and the headlights would turn on automatically whenever it was dark out.

However all last week the lights were turning on irregardless of dark or light out. Sincve I have the auto leveling xenon lights i could see they were turning on when I was parked in front of my garage.

Well yesterday I washed the car and I don't know what I did but now the headlights don't turn on during the day when in the A setting. Which is what I expect, but what happened? Why does it seem to work now?

And now in the A setting I don't see any DRL lights. I have an 05 so should there be DRLs?

Oh....I don't think I have had them on long enough to see if they cool off. I will try that tomorrow morning since its supposed to be low 30s in the morning.

That makes more sense, I didn't realize you had xenons and auto headlamps. I thought you had halogens.

Read through this link for more information that may help you, keep in mind that this thread was created around the same time your car was built. http://www.mini2.com/forum/general-d...eadlights.html
