Less than 8 weeks to get your MINI?
I ordered my CM last Saturday and it went into production on Wednesday. I thought I'd be waiting longer to head into production and I'm hoping that this means I won't have to wait as long as anticipated for my new car. I'm wondering if many people get their MINIs in less than 8 weeks (one salesperson told me 8 - 10 weeks but my MA said 10 - 12)?

Read back a few pages here. Some cars get stuck sitting at the VCD after the ship docks. I think the VDC for you will be in LA.
I've amused myself in the meantime by reading this forum.
You'll need to let everyone know what you ordered, and please spare no detail. We all need distraction!

A lot of times the dealer has extra cars allocated to them for inventory. Since you ordered the car the dealer changed one of their allocations to match your car. You should get your car in quicker fashion. My first mini was done this way and it took 6 weeks. My JCW was different. It was done in limited runs so I waited 10 weeks.

I ordered my car Monday, had my production number before I left, and by Thursday it was already in production. My MA said 6-8 weeks but that "lately we've seen them come in a little on the faster side". I'm guessing they had some production spots bought up already maybe, or the time of year since there really aren't any incentives going on right now. ::shrug::

I don't know about CM, as they come from Austria, but we got Shawn in 8 weeks, and that included 2 weeks sitting at the docks. He just missed one boat and the next one wasn't for 2 weeks. If he'd got the first boat, it would have been 6 weeks. That's about as fast as you could hope for to the west coast.

Good luck to you on getting it quickly. I just ordered mine on 3/17, and it shall be going into production on 4/8. So I'll be looking at a 2 - 2 1/2 month wait. That's with my MA changing one of the dealer cars. If she wouldn't have done that, I'd be looking at 3 months at least. So, glad I got into that slot!

Don't listen to the East Coasters!
It only takes 7-9 days to ship to the East Coast. Since you are in CA, it takes 22 days to go around the Panama Canal to CA.
Figure this way, 1 week to get order to production, 1 week to make the car, 1 week to get down to port and catch a ship, 3 weeks to ship, 1 week at VDC, 1 week for dealer to prep.
That's 8 weeks +/- 1 week due to timing.
