New MINI Owner

My daily driver (a 1997 Saturn SC2) recently died, and I decided to just donate it to a charity and look for a newer vehicle. I came across a 2008 Mini Cooper S that needed a good home, so I adopted it and brought it home today. Its got a few miles on it, but it nothing I would consider excessive. Hopefully, it will hold up for a good many years to come. I can definitely see myself having some fun with this car (definitely more fun than the old Saturn). Also, this is the closest I've every been to owning a BMW.

Welcome! I've always loved the white stripes on that light grey color

Thanks for the welcome! I found this one collecting dust at a Mazda dealer, so I'll probably try and bring it in to a Mini dealer for a general inspection to make sure everything is in good condition and that I don't have a water pump that will catch on fire (that would not be good). My major question for the experts: This car definitely has a bonnet, but do hatchbacks have a boot? How long before you don't try to back up in 6th gear (I've only owned 5-speeds previously)?

Wait till the opposite happens, when you try to shift the 5 speed into "6th" at 55 mph or so!
