Why the name "Maxine"? Current girlfriend or ex girlfriend, and does the wife know?

That side striping sure is nice. I should convince my wife to do that to her Clubman.

They really need a "LIKE" button on here. Great comment, Colin and I feel the same way. So customizable.

Tracking the Topeka

Playing the waiting game on the Topeka is addictive. The ship is out of the canal and moving up the coast of Central America. The Port Hueneme schedule shows the ship entering the port on 11/14. WW shows arrival on 11/15.

My Mini is now waiting at the port for a ship. It looks like it may be the WW Queen Sapphire or the K-Line Athens Highway. I should know which one by Sunday.

I never special-ordered a car before. After building my MINI and telling co-workers about it, they didn't believe I had so many options to choose from. I re-built my car from scratch in front of them on the website and they were stunned. I didn't know this sort of deep customizing was just a MINI thing, now I'm spoiled!

Yeah - I was looking into the Volvo C30 before I fully decided on the MINI, before a friend of mine reminded me that the Twilight vampire drove one. Their description is as follows:

Get into the oh-so-customizable Volvo C30. See how its performance features will fuel your fun.
Although the C30 is more customizable than most, after playing with the MINI configurator for the last 5 or 6 years, I was underwhelmed with the configuration options given their promises.

Waiting is not fun, especially when I can't seem to sign up on Mini's Owner's Lounge. I ordered my Mini on October 19th, then made a few revisions over the next couple of days but assumed all along that my production number would not have changed. So, after weeks of failed attempts to register on Mini's website, I started checking my production number through the Mini USA automated line. I was told my car went into production Oct 31st and yesterday was told that it was in the paint shop and due to finish up today Nov 9th. I asked my MA in an email why he has not bothered giving me a single update and he wrote back with a brand new production number and a vin, etc... This new production number is still not registering online but over the phone it gives a November 16 finish date. I am a little upset because my old production number seems to have been given to someone else by this same dealer and that person benefits from an expedited build up. Now, I have no idea how long it will take for the car to get to San Diego. I just hope it is before January 2nd, or else I won't be able to use my $750 rebate! aaaaaaaaaaaahhh!!!

Wow, seems like a crappy move by the dealer....but here is the silver lining (sort of, assuming you only put down a deposit). If they did indeed bump your number and made you wait longer, you might be able to use that to negotiate a lower price. If it comes after Jan 2, i would insist on them offering the $750 because basically they gave your car/production slot away. However, if they have it in them to bump you and not tell you, then they might not care to negotiate. At which point, personally, I would go to another dealer.

Mine's even more fun.

Ordered a 2013 JCW White Silver Coupe last weekend. Put the production number into the owners lounge hoping to track it. 24 hours later they've populated it with a Hot Chocolate 2009 Clubman S, complete with VIN number that's showing as already at my dealer in 2008! Definitely not my car so the PN has been reused.

My dealer assures me Mini corporate will fix it automatically so I am hoping when it changes to "Scheduled for Production" it kicks in all the right info on my car but Im doubtful anything will happen automatically when my PN and lounge page already have a valid car in them (albeit the wrong one). I've been calling Mini corporate every other day for a status update. No change in status from "Order accepted".

On top of all of that, there's a link on the tracking page for a video tour of the ,manufacturing plant. The link is dead (404). There also an advertisement for an iPhone app from Mini that apparently doesn't exist on iTunes. They really need to get their act together where this owners lounge is concerned...

Kurster, when I ordered my MINI, I made changes to my order a few days later, and my MA told me we only had a few more hours to nail the changes because the order was going to be finalized at the factory (at the time I didn't know it was in England, I thought MINI had a plant in America) so we went to the final hour. Late in the evening, after my MA finished work and was driving home, he called me and said to signup on the Owner's Lounge, and don't be suprised to see another car's data, and that it would take maybe 2 days for everything to be corrected. He obviously did some magic work to get my car into production as soon as possible. When I signed up, I was already on step 2, 'scheduled for production'

I never saw step 1, 'On Order.'

Same here, I found a dead link for the video tour, and was disappointed. But look on youtube for videos on the history of the MINI and you'll find 2 that are about an hour long, VHS recordings - that are outstanding. Then, in your next 2 months of waiting, hit the sites to look up accessories. I bought a lot of stuff - license plate badge holders in chrome, a chrome badge holder for the front, I made 5 custom badges on Zazzle, a chrome antenna base, chrome scuttles, carbon fiber stubby antenna, leather door pull covers, clear vinyl bumper and door handle guards, the list goes on... week and a half until I actually get my car, but at this point, I'm praying to the heavens for a delay. Amazon has yet to deliver a few more boxes to me next week, and I need to pickup a random orbital sander this weekend! I learned the art of car detailing the last month, and have stocked up on a ton of cleaning supplies.

Don't get too upset with the Owner's Lounge. It would be nice if they were up to date, but the 2 month window is apparently pretty stable. So get stuff set up in those 2 months, and just before the end, like it is for me, you'll be overwhelmed when you get info that your car is on its way.

I got bumper stickers all laid out too! Here's one:

That is worth waiting 2 months for! I will drive slooooowww for a whole week as I introduce my MINI to my town

Hang in there!

This is off topic, but those two clowns, Ferguson and Geoff, on the late late show (CBS) are either certifiable or hilarious. Take your pic. Staying up late tonight b/c I can't sleep due to the phreakin' WAITING GAME for my MINI! Driving me nuts!

Haha, I know what you all mean about the online OL. My info took about 11 days to show in it and when it did finally work, it listed as "Scheduled for production" and the options were all wrong, 12 HRS later it was correct. 1866-ASK MINI is far more useful as it gave me an 16th Nov completion date. If this is true there are 3 possible ships my MINI will be boarding.

SOUTHAMPTON 19/11/2012 NEW YORK, NY 29/11/2012 PORGY CA246-PGY 10 Book It
SOUTHAMPTON 25/11/2012 NEW YORK, NY 06/12/2012 TURANDOT CA247-TUR 11 Book It
SOUTHAMPTON 03/12/2012 NEW YORK, NY 13/12/2012 AIDA CA248-ADA 10 Book

Hopefully it's on the 1st or 2nd one!

JCW Convertible Oh Yeah!!!

Well I can quit complaining about no allocation and now join all you other complainers waiting for delivery!!!

I went to my dealer today and he got an allocation for my Chili Red JCW Convertible and the order is in! I spent some time there making sure I was happy with all my selections and I could not be more excited. They had one JCW on the showroom floor that was white with a red top and man was it sweet. Not a convertible though and even though I asked nicely they said I could not drive that one as they need to keep miles off it for some lucky buyer...

I really like the red stitching on the seats, shifter boot and steering wheel. I added the Mini Connected w/Nav, Premium Pkg, Tech Pkg, Xenon lights w black housings & white turn signals. JCW bonnet stripes, red dash and color line and even the JCW checkered mats. Hell I even ordered the heated mirrors and washer jets but have no use for them

I must say I am very impressed with John at Mini of Camarillo (he does mainly internet sales) and if anyone needs a referral let me know! Huge selection of over 100 Minis on the lot.

I feel like a kid on Christmas Eve...I can't wait to start whining about how long it is taking to get here!

Amancuso, how did you get that information regarding the ships? My mini is also scheduled to finish production on November 16th and it will have to come all the way to Oxnard, CA to port Hueneme. How do I find out what ships it could be on?

Google ww shipping. Go to search by schedule...search by ports.

Looks like you should be on Bess departing 11/21 arriving 12/12 or Glorius Leader departing on 12/4 arriving on 12/26.

You can enter your vin number on their track and trace and it will verify that you are on the ship. This could happen a day before departure. Enter in Cargo id area.

That's great. Thanks for the info. It helps to have ways to check up on transport, especially when the dealer is no help at all. I hope my car makes it before the new year, so I can use that rebate!

My guess is you will make the Bess. It took 11 days for my car to go from production start to complete. I got to the dock a couple of days before the Topeka sailed. You can check out my timeline. The shipping schedules are pretty accurate. The Topeka was a day late coming into Southhampton but will be into Port Hueneme on 11/15 as scheduled. It also the last arrivals cleared the VDC in a two to three days.

Your best source of information is ask mini not the owners lounge.
