Thank you all for helping make the wait bearable. Hang in there...you and your MIN will be together soon and it'll be worth this long wait!

My 2013 BRG convertible will be picked up Friday. My first MINI, but I recall sitting in the Austin Mini at the 1968 NYC auto show.

I'm very excited. I owned a '67 MGB for a summer in 1975. It was a lot of fun, and I'm expecting this car to be as much fun, although perhaps less exciting since it will not have that air of suspense about when I will lose ignition in the course of rolling down a busy highway.

Well folks, thanks for your company during the wait. Gollum II is in the garage and all is right with the world again.

Peace and happy motoring,

Hello all, a soon to be MCS owner here.

I ordered a 2013 Iced Chocolate MCS, manual, infiniti stream rims, Toffee Lounge seats and color line, premium package, sport package, cold weather package, rear foglight, h/k sound, auto-dimming mirrors, chromline interior/exterior, comfort access, alarm system, arm rest, piano black trim, and maybe the kitchen sink... will have to look at the build sheet again.

Ordered on November 8th, started production November 20th and birthday is scheduled for November 28th.

Now to figure out which ship...

Hi Kip, and welcome. You won't get any shipping information until after the birthday.

The OL is sooooo slow to update. It says my MINI is awaiting transport, yet it's been on the ship for 3 days on the open sea already...

SO just to strike up a bit of chat and get my mind off my pushed back production date...anybody have thoughts on the Mini connected w/nav? MA didn't have any on the lot to play with so I ordered the new Mini with it on faith that it wouldn't be trash.

Anyone have any experiences with it and how well (or not) it works? Worth the 2k+ for the system?

Well you guys got me fired up so I called the Ask Mini folks - my JCW Convertible was ordered the day after yours on November 9th...but no good news for me. Still waiting for a production date and no idea when that will be. Can I borrow yours until mine gets here?

I ordered it, and if it's anything like BMW's NAV system, I won't be disappointed.

Oh, Amancuso,

I kept watching the progress of the Topeka on line for the last month. Felt like a slow boat to China, but I needed to check up on a lot of stuff like hooking up the bluetooth, taking care of the body,... So I had a good time dreaming about it all. I can let you know how it compares when I'm on the road in it Friday. Sounds like you are already experienced at the whole process. It will all be worth it in a week or two!

My dealer had one and gave me a demo - I think it will be worth it. I like the feature of sending directions to the nav unit from your phone or computer.

I ordered it too. I had the factory NAV in my 04 MCS and never regretted the purchase. Today's systems are so much more sophisticated and the tight integration and fit and finish in the dash is worth every penny IMO. Streaming radio stations, Facebook checkins...I'll use all of it.

Does it still work with the new Apple Maps program?

I know it works with mapquest - I couldn't hook up my iPhone 5 because the cable is for a 4 and I didn't bring the adapter with me. But the Apple maps on my iPhone5 still stink compared to mapquest, so I use that app.

I doubt it will use Apple's map app. Mini Connected with NAV has its own maps and directions. At most I think you might be able to find an address on your phone and send it to the Carl's lookup system. It won't display Apple Maps on the dash (I'd be floored if it did).

I have a 2013 JCW with mini connect and navi due to us still being in UK I can't try out navi but I have been messing with the connect. My iPhone 4 connected threw Bluetooth and its pretty damn cool I ordered the cable looking forward to seeing what else it will do. The BMW dealer I went threw said this navi is suppose to be top of the line I'm hoping he is right, now we just need to move back to USA so I can try it out.

I have to buy a cable? It doesn't come with what is needed to connect it to an iPhone or iPod? What is needed? Thanks!

Yup had to buy iPod cable, ended up getting it off eBay for 15 pounds. The phone cable is different for iPhone 4 and iPhone 5 in the arm rest is where it will plug in. You would think all the money spent they would give ya one of the cables at least for free. When I picked up car the dealer showed me how to sync phone to car. but Bluetooth has to be on for it to work, so all my phone calls go threw car hands free. The iPod cord is simple it's USB and headphone jack on one end and iPod connect on other end. if you don't have this your iPod wont play threw car we tried using just iPod cord it didn't work.

I originally was going to skip it, but then decided I wanted the connectivity with my iPhone and did not want to deal with trying to fit an after market 2DIN nav system into the dash. When I did the numbers on it, it was not a $2750 upgrade. I already had about $2000 of the Technology package added in, so selecting the package increased my cost by only $750.

After two weeks with it, I can say it I like the interface enough. The nav system is good, fairly easy to use, and actually allows me to enter destinations as I am driving, but I still like my Waze iPhone nav app better. (It does a better job of taking traffic into account and tells me important things, such as where the police might be hiding.)

I do not regret the decision at all. This may be heresy on a Mini forum, but I really don't care for the speedometer in the middle of the dash like that, so having a display screen make use of that dash real estate is a lot better to me. I like the interface for the most part, though I would like station song info, when available, to display more readily.

You can do that? How?

I will note, my only complaint so far is that the Mini Link iPhone app does not support 2013 VINs, so I can't log into it.

That said, I can still get Pandora playing and displaying, and I love how Pandora shows up as another option in the radio menu (AM, FM, Sirius, Pandora). I also have my iPhone hacked and can show it's screen on the display.

Wow that was a boatload of cash for the Mini Connect with Nav and no included cable and no smooch either LOL. Thanks for the heads up it looks like the latest audio video cable is part 61 12 2 179 62 - which is actually for a iPhone 4. I found a new on online for $68 - it should work on my iPhone 5 with the lightning adapter that Apple already hosed me another $30 US for. I should have been a cable/adapter manufacturer - it looks like there is money in it!

He told me that once you have the route up on Mapquest on your computer just use the send to "mobile" function from your desktop to your phone. Then when you connect your phone in the car the route will already be there for your Nav to use - we didn't do it but he said it works and it sounded pretty slick if it does!

FWIW, mine came with the cable. USB + audio on one end, Apple 30pin on the other. It's short though, so it doesn't reach farther out of the under dash USD/audio connector than the side mesh pocket.
