Just talked to my MA. They are not releasing any MY13 cars and not giving a reason.

I've got no idea why they wouldn't release those in the distribution centers -- turn accounts receivables into cash on the books.

I have a feeling this is going to cause some big ripples on down the line... Just when "Jeeves" is completed and getting ready to ship!

I just got off a heated conversation with my MA. As I was offered a quick build to speed up the arrival my my 2013 and now to have it sitting in NJ did not make me happy. There is no ETA on when they will be release.

My feeling is this is an issue that Mini should have realized and dealt with as opposed to letting our cars sit at the VDC. Neither Mini or the Dealerships are taking ownership of the issue. I need to make a decision tonight if I just walk away from the deal. That would put me in the market for a non mini new car.

Any thoughts from others caught waiting?

As one who has already gotten my car, I say this. It depends on how attached you are to the car. I was attached to my car as soon as I ordered it and nothing, short of a complete financial collapse on my end, would've had me cancelling it. It seems I read an earlier thread saying that they are releasing the 2013's on August 1? If that's the case, it's only a week and then your car will be on its way to your dealer. Only you can make this decision but those are my two cents

I would wait until August 1st until making a decicision. I talked to someone at work with a lot of car knowledge. He said no manufacturer releases a new model year in July. They always wait until August, September. Also my car was built about one week ahead of schedule. I think all these cars are a little ahead of schedule.

These are all built-to-order vehicles. The turnaround time from when I placed my order (6/28) until the finished product reaches my port of arrival (7/25) is pretty freaking amazing. I fully anticipated a 6-7 week wait for arrival to US. So, if it takes another 2.5 weeks until I can take delivery - it's still a bonus.

MIDLYF: The Florida Highway has an ETA into Brunswick, GA of 0950 UTC on 7/25. The ship is near Wilmington, NC at this moment. WOOHOO! Your Roadster and my Justa are just about ready to reach their own version of Ellis Island.

As delighted as I was that so many people we're saying our Independence weekend babies would be delivered very shortly, originally my MA said August. So.... Although I completely empathize with your frustration (this car is my " reward" for having survived a bad car accident and a severely broken neck) I am choosing to wait. I guess I'll just keep eating popcorn and singing Carly Simon's famous song....Anticipation! All of this waiting is NOT easy!!

Hey Tab! I agree with what everyone is saying. Most new vehicles are not let out until sometime between August and December. A week or two week is not bad compared to six to eight weeks. In the end you will walk out of this situation with two things: 1. your Mini and 2. patience. I think that it is worth it, plus it is not like anyone else has received their vehicles. Everyone is waiting just like you. I hope you make the decision to wait rather than buying another car just because of impatience. I think it will be well worth it. Good luck with whatever your decide!

As others have pointed out, wait. Good things come to those who wait. The wait isn't long at all. I've waited much longer for ordered cars before, and no matter how frustrating, it's always worth the wait to get exactly what you want. I'd wait 6 months if it meant getting the exact car I wanted. I don't like to settle. And nothing you are experiencing is put of the ordinary or a reason to be upset with Mini or the dealership.

Grey, which side of TN? I'm close to Knoxville but decided to purchase out of Pittsburgh (hence the Baltimore port).

Oh, and with the delay, I'll take a large popcorn with light butter!!

Sky, Hello to a fellow Tennessean! I'm in Nashville and bought here. This will be the third car I have bought from the same MA.

I don't quite understand what the hold up is. Hopefully they release them soon for everybody. If not we may Ned a few large popcorns with butter.

2013 Mustangs have been on the lot for over a month. So much for "always waiting till August 1st."

Are they an early release, or a regular 2013 release. Sorry but I don't follow what ford does. I just smoke them, every time I see them.

Anyone else's Mini on the Independence II? It seems to have fallen off the face of the earth somewhere just under Sable Island. Most ship tracking sites say it should have hit Baltimore tonight, but some are saying that it's not due at port until the 26th. Wah!!!

If this is an April fools day joke, its a little late and in waaay poor taste. I'm currently at the airport. Why am I at the airport? Because I'm cutting a west coast business trip a day short to pick up my mini tomorrow in order to have it in time for a road trip this weekend. I made this appointment last Friday, and no one from mini has called me to cancel it. If they couldn't deliver the car, they shouldn't have made an appointment...if they learned something new they should have the common decency to call me to tell me. Even if they called me this morning I would have been able to rearrange my trip.

I will be beyond PO'd if they refuse me my car tomorrow, and coming off a red-eye is not going to help my mood any.

Sorry, but no 2013 are being released from the VDC. My dealer has 16 cars there.

No vehicles being release from the VDC is very poor planning on the part of Mini. There seems to have been no communication to the dealers or the customers ahead of time either.
Mini creates the culture where you can stalk the production of your car but it exposes issues like this that make them look bad.

It's not poor planning. It shows they DO plan. It's common for manufacturers to hold the next model year until they are ready to release them. Happens every year. Maybe some poor communication from your dealership.

But as someone who's been on enthusiast message boards for 12 years and ordered several cars, I can tell you this is common, and nothing to get your panties in a bunch.

tab as stated in my previous post this was communicated to me by my dealer several weeks ago that my MINI could be delayed at the VDC because it was a MY13. I think some dealers obviously do a better job of informing the clients. You are right though being able to track your car from creation to delivery does make things very difficult especially knowing our cars are this close and we can not have them.

I disagree: given that No dealers claim to have know about this ahead of time does show poorly on Mini and their relationship with the dealers and customers. I to have ordered multiple mini's and this is the first time this has happened with mini or any other manufacturer.

Dealers look like idiots who can't be trusted with the "inside dope" thus leaving customers in the dark. A very poor corporate model.

Must be the influence of the German ownership. "I know nothing!" Didn't think I bought my roadster from Sgt. Schultz.

Guys relax! Yes, having to wait causes an inconvenience; but inconveniences come up all the time. Rather than sit and gripe why not send a letter to the corporate headquarters and express your disappointments. Or why not just go to the beach and enjoy a nice drink... or whatever else allows for you to relax. There is no need to flip-out just adjust. This is happening to people across the nation not just individual people. Enjoy your day and good luck folks! Your Mini should soon be with you!!

Agreed! There are worse things that could be happening to all of you right now and you need to appreciate that you will have your MINI soon.
