Yup, we are on the same boat! LOL
I think I went through the same research and got to the same conclusions. When my last MINI was totaled I put the Golf R in my short list, but it didn't pass my rigorous like-ability test.

Can't wait can't wait can't wait!

After 60 days of waiting...tracking...pining...waiting...more tracking...it has finally arrived!!! I have never bought something so huge...this gives a new meaning to the phrase "delayed gratification"...God is good...but he's definitely teaching me something...

For my buddies on the Chesapeake Highway in San Antonio...never fear...your's is on it's way soon...if on same carrier...maybe by the end of week. Keep the faith!!

MINI newbie

Hello,

I am a MINI newbie! I ordered a 2013 MCS on Nov. 24. The OL says that it is "Awaiting Transport". AskMINI says that it is at the port and awaiting a shipping vessel. The port loc is Brunswick, GA. (It was completed on Dec. 6 and arrived at the Southampton port on Dec. 7.) My priority code is 4 stock. (Didn't know about priority codes at the time of order or I would have discussed this with MA.)

I have checked the WW track and trace and my VIN does not show any records. Is it possible that it made it on one of the last ships from Southampton to Brunswick for the 2012 year and the WW site is just not updated?

OR did it make it on a K-Line ship?

OR is it really still in Southampton at the port waiting to be shipped?

How long does it take to be loaded onto a vessel once it is at the Southampton port?

Any information regarding experiences or help is greatly appreciated!!!

Make a good relationship with your MA...they have all the info...ask for ship carrier/name specifically and a link to track...if they are skilled...you'll be able to follow it. IF you're on Kline..and ship called the Athens Highway (seems common for southern US deliveries)...here's the link....looks like it's in the middle of N Atlantic now... But ask your MA to confirm. See attached schedule... http://www.marinetraffic.com/ais/def...0&type_color=7.

Thanks for your response! Unfortunately, I don't have that much confidence in my MA. (After 3 weeks, he forgot who I am when I called today. How many people has the MA placed orders for within the last 3 weeks that merit forgetting a customer?) I spoke to a manager and the only information that he was able to give me was that it was at the port in Southampton, the same info that AskMINI gave me; so, I am not so sure the information from my dealership is accurate. Would the priority code 4 stock cause an extreme delay in shipping?

So close...yet SO faaaaar away!!!
My mini is due into port on the 19th! Ten I wait 3-5 days till its at the dealer's. long loooong week ahead!

Also, I was TORMENTED with deciding on a color. I finally fell for the surf blue only to learn it was discontinued, so I went with grey. Now that I see all the bright cms photos in red, blue or white, I'm doubting my choice!?
Ugh!

As for where I am, I am in Jacksonville, FL (Northeast Florida) so once it is built and shipped the Brunswick GA location is REALLY close to me.
I live in Jacksonville also. I ordered my MCS on Dec 8th ad hope to have it the second week in January.

Great news! SA is just a 3 hour drive from Houston so it may be at my dealer right now!

Who wants to go and see Queen Sapphire unload in NJ?

Hey guys,
I've been giving it some thoughts to going to watch the Queen Sapphire when it starts unloading next week. The last reported ETA is on 12/24 (http://www.marinetraffic.com/ais/shi...mmsi=564254000) which is not so great because everybody will be gathering with their families, same for the next day (Xmas, duh!).

Anyways, if you think this is a cool idea and to go and try to snap some pictures, I'm game, just send me a note and we can try.

This is where the ship docks:
http://www.panynj.gov/port/vehicle-s...rocessing.html

Am I too crazy ? My dealer agent said that in the past some other people have done it. I just don't know how close we can get or even if we are allowed to enter that area.

Oh, I live in Jersey City btw, that's why I think is not a big deal for me to go there.

It's easy to drive yourself batty waiting but I'm pretty convinced after reading so many posts that it takes 8 weeks from the time you order till it rolls into port. I'm hoping it won't take too long after that date (tomorrow for me!!!!) to transfer to the dealership!?

Does anyone know how hard/easy it is to install stripes on the car? I want the white and red 10" racing stripes but not sure where I can get it done, so I found it online but kinda scared I'd mess it up!

Talk to your dealer, they should be able to do it in a professional way. They gave this to me http://www.minimotoringgraphics.com/ (an actual printed brochure). Get a quote for the installation. Doesn't mean you cannot get it done with someone else though.

(I think he just doesn't want me to drive him nuts). I think I screwed up too as I always thought you have to have a car to negotiate the price and after I made the deposit and double checked the financing I realized I probably should have talked price 1st. So when the car comes in I am hoping to negotiate a little off the top maybe even backend some into my trade to help offset the total down payment.

Any suggestions? I am trying not to call Daniel for a production/build# until Friday but it is KILLING me to wait just for that.
Daniel is my MA as well. He has been awesome during the ordering process. The two times I have place an order (the first one wrong) I walked out with a production number. Might be different with a JCW. This last time, he was able to switch out a dealer build spot with my MCS that was only a couple days out from production. Very lucky.
The first build was 54 days from ordering till delivery at the dealership. This one will be about 30-37 days I hope.
I knew the price of everything and the trade-in value of my car before we placed the order. At signing they do offer some additional maintenance and warranty plans. It is very transparent.

Yeah I actually think I know your exact car as he mentioned their was some confusion about a NAV system and that you really wanted that. Your car without the NAV was really sweet...

Time will tell. Good to talk to you and hope things keep moving quickly for you.

Thanks weaf! During the 2 month wait for my MINI I printed out a picture of it and studied it as we shopped for accessories. On pickup day I dressed it up and it the car was complete! Shopping really helped time fly during the wait

PS just wanted to add, I know some people worry about bumper sticker damaging the paint. I had leftover 3M clear protective bumper film so I put the sticker on the film, cut it out and applied it. So the sticker will pull righr off

Keal, where can I see more pics of your MINI? It seems like we have the same color and graphics. Mine is a Cooper S though, but it's a chili red with chili red roof and black stripes too, just like yours.
