I've been trying to place my Hardtop order ASAP, but have been told that the factory is closed until January 8th and orders can't be placed until then. Can anyone confirm?
I was hoping to make the Southampton departure on the 15th
to California.

Idk about that, it took 8 days to make my car and production started 2 days after I placed my order. Car was done and at the port a day and a half later but I didn't fit on the first boat and had to wait a week for the next one. All in all I'm looking at a 45 days from order to deliver if all stays on track.
I would call mini them selves and ask about them being closed.

Kleiner,
If you give mini a call to ask when they re-open let us all know on here as I had heard they closed for the Holidays but would re-open on the 2nd of Jan but that info was 2nd (possibly 3rd or even 4th) hand so if I knew it was the 8th I'd stop checking to see if I was in production yet...at least until 8 AM on the 8th ;+)
We picked up the 2013 JCW Countryman last Saturday night in the rain & snow. I'll try to get a better pic when we have decent enough weather to give it a proper detail.

Okay I've officially graduated.
Thanks to everyone for waiting with me and keeping me together through the long days. We are finally a two-MINI family again.
Well it's about phreakin' time! Congrats Kurtster. FYI, I've already got almost 1,300 miles on COKESTR and am still having a blast with it.

looks beautiful Kurster. I consider you my classmate since we both had a GP order then.. canceled for a JCW.
I've picked up mine yesterday. Grad pics coming soon.

Congrats! And, for the record, I have zero regrets about changing from a GP to a JCW. This is a fantastic-feeling car to drive and some of the stuff I love about it wasn't available on a GP at any price. In addition, they've sold fewer than 3900 Coupes in all since they were introduced. Even fewer of those are JCWs. This makes my car not only unique where GPs are all the same, but even more rare because there are fewer of them.
You will love it when you get your JCW!
I will say this: This new car is way more prone to oversteer than my R53 was. In the two days I've had it, I hit a few patches of snow and ice in that time. On turns the rear end really wants to slide on slippery surfaces, probably because the coupe's weight distribution is skewed toward the front.
Ship came to port 1-3 in Port Hueneme. Now automated line has changed from "en route," to "At port awaiting a shipping vessel."
This is just poor wording, right? It's not really awaiting a shipping vessel, right? It's just awaiting a truck to San Francisco, Right? ... Right?
It is just a poor choice of words My MA sent me an email telling me it was at Port Hueneme and will be at the VDC for 1-2 days then on a truck home.
Oh, I was also on the Zenith Leader! But another 2 weeks for me here in Colorado!

Thanks, cospringjc, I feel better now. I do remember that your car was also on the Zenith Leader. Thanks for sharing the info from your MA.

Mine says the same thing, same boat. Although unlike you, my MA hasn't contacted me since I signed the paperwork back in November. I'm hoping the trip through the VDC and on to Phoenix won't be too long. I'm finding it really difficult to avoid spilling the beans to my wife at this point.
Did anyone receive a production number or have their car born since Christmas?
Nope, ordered mine on Dec 14th and got my production # (after a little more negotiating) the following week. Supposedly the factory such down a few days before Xmas and I've heard two different dates about when they will reopen. One being Jan 2nd and the other was Jan 8th but no confirmation on any of the dates.
Plus I have not seen any changes from anyone that relates to production which seems to backup the factory closing for the holidays.

I was told Jan 8. I tried ordering on 12/28 but was told the factory was closed. I hoped to have production start early enough to be on the 1/15 boat, but that's not looking likely. The next one departs for California 15 days later.
