Seriously - I was waiting for your update so I could go bug my MA and find out when she was planning on signing us up for it, 'cause man it sounded cool.

One of the coolest things that we've done is go up to the plant and take a tour of the assembly lines. Heck - that was how we decided what color our second MINI was going to be, we were in England and were talking about moving to an MCS - took a tour of the factory and after seeing the new (at the time) colors make their way down the line we knew exactly what we wanted.

I was doing the exact same thing. I was so excited for this video option and was already thinking how much my Dad would like to see it too!

I hope Mini gets in gear and follows what they're already doing at he BMW plants!

Happy for all of you that have been waiting it out and now have good news! I spoke with ASK-MINI yesterday and they still have me under 'Daily Production Pack' with an approx production start date of first week of February. No promises or definites. Bummer.
I'm also having an issue with the sport stripes I ordered/built online. My MA is reporting that MINI says that Reef Blue Coupes cannot have silver sport stripes. Funny that the website allows you to build a Coupe in Reef Blue with sport stripes for $250 or inclusive in the JCW Package I bought for a small fortune.
He seems to be fighting the good fight with MINI, but said that if they won’t allow it, he can have them installed at the dealer and will have to charge ME for the stripes and the labor! I told him that actually, they would have to discount the package for the stripes and eat the cost of the labor. I don’t like paying for things twice or falling victim to false advertising. I can’t help but stress over the fact that if they have to be installed at the dealer, I’ll have to wait even longer to get her knowing she’s here. Ugh. Makes me crazy.
I pray that this little bump in the road does not delay my production.
Cheers!
Kim

You can always leave the stripes off altogether, get your clear bra installed, then have the stripes installed over the top of the clear bra. If you are going to get the film installed it's better that way anyway IMO.

That is messed up, I wonder if he can place the order with a different color and then add a comment requesting the silver? If you play with the configuration on MiniUSA.com as much as I'd expect most of us do you can actually have the car show up with no rims or tires which looks kind of odd but someone obviously designed it to allow for no tires or rims at all.

Thanks Jake for the info. I don't know much about much, so I hadn't even thought about a clear bra. I may just do that since the paint job is so expensive.

I've built a tireless car before, too. I was messing around between a couple of choices and ended up with a Coupe that looked like it was on blocks.
Out of the blue my MA just emailed me not to worry about anything...that they'd be installed at no charge to me no matter what. That's a relief. He also said he checks daily on production and will let me know if I'm slated to start earlier than first week of Feb. I feel much better! I may opt for the clear bra now if installation will be at the dealer.
Thanks!!

On my MCS build, I added the JCW interior package with JCW cloth. If I add the sport package onto that, the seats disappear in the picture (and the options list). It's funny though, because the seat rails remain in the image. Why would they even be there? They're always covered by the seat!

So even though I wanted everything in the sport package, I had to order the car without it or else the seats wouldn't load up. However, I still got the package discount on my final build sheet...even though I don't have the package. Weird.

Yeah, that builder is a strange animal. I came up up with some strange combos that generated missing parts during my obsessive building streak. Well, admittedly, I'm still building. I'm going on my MA's word that all will be well and try to have patience during this wait.

WOW! What a beauty you have coming! Can't wait to see a pic of the actual car! My friend is so excited about hers coming! She waited so long to decide on exactly what she wanted and now he's almost home with her! Is this your first MINI?

Thanks and I can relate to the excitement - it will be close to 3 months by the time I get it! This is my first Mini, coming from a C6 Corvette convertible but I was ready for a change and this will be a big (or actually a small) one!

I needed something fun to drive and though the torque and HP are a lot less it's still a kick in the pants to drive. After driving one the first time I thought I could have a lot of fun in one of these!

Dude, get the RENNTECH upgrade!!! Approx $1,000 installed! My car is super quick now with the sport button pressed. AAMOF, I don't think I ever drive it without the sport button pressed unless I'm just cruising on a highway with no turns (doesn't happen much around here). MPG has dropped maybe 3-4mpg??? Not bad considering all the I get when maneuvering!!!

I like the sound of that! That is a big difference in HP that for sure you would notice in the seat of the pants. I also love to mod my cars - I called the last one the money pit LOL...but it sure is fun!

It's a huge difference for the money! I've been toying with the idea of changing my exhaust but I won't want to sound Ricer'ish... Hmm... I wonder if we should take this conversation to a different thread? Sometimes people get ansy when we get off topic...

still on topic, kind of.

I just read this and checked out the site which helped me figure out my new JCW is supposedly coming with an N18 as this is the first year the JCWs finally got it instead of the older N14. 248 HP in a JCW R56 would be beyond sweet! My concern is voiding the warranty. When I go to pickup my new Mini I am going to the service Manager and asking exactly what I can do to my Mini that won't void the warranty or what he cares I do or not do as I've learned in the service industry it isn't always where you go but who you get that matters the most. I am concerned about the mushrooming that supposedly has been fixed but I'd prefer to be safe so that might be my first mod and I can't see how something like that would void anything as it helps avoid damage to the car.

This is still kind of on topic as many of us maybe planning some mods and what voids, what doesn't and what is based on opinion of the service manager would be great to know before getting our cars. TYIA

EDIT: After the warranties are up ....everything is game...!

I would stick with what ASK-MINI is saying and I really do hope you make the earlier boat. I am lucky and live on the East Coast so our ships seem to get here faster and there are a lot more of them from what I've seen. Actually no offense to anyone but I am crossing my fingers that most of you are going on other boats just so there is plenty of room for mine to make the earliest boat possible. Not trying to be mean...just saying.

You're funny.

My Mini finally changed status at Ask-Mini, It's in the body shop. No way will I be making the earlier boat. They are saying it will finish production on the 29th. Oh well, at least she is finally getting some attention. No a different waiting game

That really sucks as I don't want to make you upset as you really have dealt with some crap lately but I wanted to make sure you knew that being in "Body shop" means it still has a lot ahead of it and you are right it probably won't make the ship.

http://www.mini2.com/forum/faq.php?faq=faq_delivery

150 - just means they basically are assembling the frame / preparing the parts that are to be added to the car as it is built.
151 - Frame and sealing/baking to protect it from corrosion and allow the paint to have something to adhere too.
You still have 152, 153, 155 and 160 (160 I've been told usually is less than a day and many times you will only see 155 and then 182.)

I will cross my fingers for you that they are showing 151 but that you are already 153 or better.
