Congrats!
Thanks! Excellent idea. I think I'll go and have a Spaten Optimator after work!

ah the wait!!!!....

well, like everyone else on here.. i too am trying to patiently await the building receiving of my 2013 Cooper S Coupe. i am so jealous of those who's minis are partying the on boat...

so a quick question for ya'll. After the day I placed my order, around Feb 1, i went onto the owners lounge site and registered my email and my prod number.

low and behold, the moment i clicked on "Wheres my mini", the tracking page already had a cooper coupe listed. of course, this mini coupe was not mine (system hadn't been updated yet) but does this mean that i got one of my dealer's production slot?

Also, i noticed that i had a VIN show up basically about 5 days later on the site and my status changed "Scheduled for Production". so... i'm wondering if my mini may arrive faster due to not having to wait? i called the automated mini number that still is saying "scheduled to be built".

btw, here's my mini i built/ordered:

2013 Cooper S Coupe - Lightning Blue w/silver metallic mirrors/top

-Technology Package w/Navigation
-Premium Package 1
-Mini Wired Package
-Center armrest
-Dynamic Traction Control
-Sport steering wheel w/paddles
-Foglights
-Xenon headlights
-Adaptive light control
-All season tires
-ZP1 equipment (Dynamic stability control but no sports suspension, may upgrade to later)
-Rear foglight
-Silver sport stripes
-stuck w/the 16" tires too.

Yep, you took one of thier slots . Now they getting parts together about 5 or so days. Then 1+days to build. Then they need to test and off you go to port. Might want to call ask mini and talk to live person and see if they have a production start day for you. Good Luck Lots o popcorn around this thread.

Yes, I believe that's exactly what it means. Same thing happened for me.

I think it means it will arrive faster than if they had waited for a new unassigned production slot to open up. But it's still not guaranteed to arrive "fast" in any absolute sense of the term.

Still, "Scheduled for production" is good. My car took a couple weeks to hit that milestone, so you're already ahead.

Nice build, BTW. I went with the sport suspension (and 16" wheels), which seems to be a relatively rare combination. Based on what I read here and elsewhere on the web, if you think you might eventually want sport suspension, now's the time to get it. After you get the car, it's more cost-effective to go aftermarket or to only upgrade the sway bar. Since I don't want to mess with the cost and hassle of aftermarket, I decided it was worth $500 to get the factory sport suspension. I'm crossing my fingers the ride isn't too harsh, though hopefully the 16" wheels will help that.

Good Beer haven't had one of those in a very long time, I am spoiled as I have a friend who runs a sports bar about 3 blocks from my house (no discounts for me but the beer is fresh ) and the food is great and has 84 Beers on tap and almost all are Micro-Brews, plus if that doesn't work he has almost the same amount in bottled beers! At $5 to $6 a Beer it always costs me more than the food does. They even have an iPhone app for the place but it lacks the ability to "search" and with 84 on tap...search is a requirement.

I bet if I asked you "RIGHT NOW" how many more miles you'd know the number with in 1 mile. ...Can you say you are now the lead OC today. (The sad (and good) thing is you know your not alone...you just put it out there).

That's a nice build and I think you'll be happy with it unless you want track days. I have sport suspension , tower brace and an ALTA rear Sway bar, I have that set on the softest setting. Check out the modifications link and you will see that you have made good choices. You can get after market stuff that is adjustable so you don't have to live with it 24/7. If you want super sticky tires you won't wear them out commuting. Rims are easily damaged and tyre rack do very good inexpensive ones, plus you can get the 17's 0r 18's for the odd occasions when they're needed. After your free service period is ove, the one mod I will really miss is the radial cut, cross drilled rotors front and back and the super ceramic pads.

Your in the CMS line, not to say it won't happen this week, but a couple of us have been sitting in Bremerhaven since early last week. Things don't seem to be moving quickly there.

On the bright side there's atleast three ships loading up in the next couple days so..... I'm hoping Quix gets loaded on the Parsifal even though it leaves a day later it gets to Baltimore a day earlier....but Honor, Parsifal, Aida....which ever just get Quix loaded

Last Friday, February 08, 2013 I started the procedure AGAIN, to purchase a new Mini Cooper. This time a 2013 Mini Cooper S Roadster in Pepper White with the JCW interior and exterior packages, Mini Connect, auto headlights/wipers, Sirius radio, Cold Package, rear fogs and auto. My question to those here, what is the 800 number to contact Mini to find out the status. I know about the Owners Lounge, but they tend to be way too slow. Any help? MA says six week, or thereabouts. We'll see.

(866) 275-6464, hit 2, key in prod number #, say production.

Better info with a live person.

Which dealership? Just curious...

Although at this point I'd either be calling - or I'd just show up! That's what happened with our first MINI... We stopped pestering our MA and just walked in, turns out we ended up walking in 30 minutes after the car came off the truck!

It's Alexandria Passport Mini. Which oddly enough was a great buying experience. But every time I have called since the MA's have kinda blown me off. When I call, a lot of times I just get a blah answer, like they don't feel like looking it up. I took a drive through on Saturday to see if it was sitting in the lot. I have tracked my own mini between ask mini, ol, ww's website, marine traffic, etc. and havent asked them where is is at all in two months. now I'm just starting to get pissed because ask mini can't track it after the ship turns it over. And I have no clue where it is now. I have a spy network that told me a car carrier pulled into the dealership late this afternoon. I'm waiting for traffic to die down and might take a ride.

You'd think that at this point the dealership would be driving YOU crazy to come and get the car ASAP so they can get paid...

Passport's the one DC area dealership I haven't had any dealings with as it opened after we left the area. I know a lot of folks were excited that they finally got a dealership because the location is so much better than hoofing it out to Sterling or Annapolis.

However I also know that a few of the original DCMM members weren't thrilled with Passport. Back in 2002 Passport made a bid for a dealership and before it was approved had already setup a showroom with MINI banners and were taking deposits on MINIs even though they weren't granted a dealership and couldn't actually sell MINIs. When it all fall apart, Passport was a bit slow refunding the deposits that they had collected. I'm pretty sure though, that the folks who were involved in that debacle aren't around anymore...

I have to say that they were great. They were the second dealership I went to. I finally dropped the first one because they were taking me for a ride. But it just seems that the after the sale info has been severely lacking. Maybe I'm just a maniac as well, I work a pretty high stress/profile job so I constantly have my bberry attached at the hip and answer anything pretty much on the dot. So I could be being difficult...but I really don't feel like I am. When they first put the banners up I was turned off by them. That is when I still had my R53, I would still make the track out to Sterling then. But they seemed so much better when I was purchasing. I'm sure I just need to step back and breathe.

We went with Annapolis Mini. Alexandria said they would match any price but they wouldn't touch the deal from Annapolis. That being said, our MA has not provided any info. I'm patiently waiting at the dock...ok,,,,not so patiently....

I have to say Alexandria did way better than my home state dealer ( we are military as well ) and they gave us tons of discounts through USAA. So I can't complain. They ended up saving me 5 grand, so I can't complain about price matching, plus they are WAY closer than Annapolis. But my car has been at the docks since last Wed. And it has no major add ons for the VDC to do, so what the heck!!

I wish I could track that precisely! In fact, the ship tracking website hasn't updated Tombarra's position in a couple hours, and this is driving me nuts. But as soon as it's updated, my script ought to email me...

Considering the enthusiasm that most/all of the folks who custom order have for their pending delivery - I'm not sure I'd consider you a maniac... I mean it's not like you wrote a script that e-mails you every time there's an updated position on the ship carrying your car!:n od:

Bahahaha, well depending on where you are updating from......they don't update once they hit open water in the Atlantic. I only know this because......I set up my own personal account to track my SPECIFIC ship, through several ship trackers (including the official U.S. Coast Guard tracking system) and once they get off the coast of Spain they don't update till they get close to the coast of the U.S. a la Bermuda range. See.....I am a maniac.
